I managed to have complete reading the 6th book! The storyline in the book was very dramatic, emotional and also there were times where the characters were haled up in confusion, secrets were revealed and choices and hard decisions were made. I felt as if the story line in this book was similar to one of the other books the author wrote earlier because the storyline was just like the 6th book, the drama, the tears etc. I really like this book and I would recommend it to anyone, well to people wh...more

MY TAKE:
This story was even better – I am so glad that this series is starting to pick up. It is such a great premise with so much possibility, but I was having a hard time caring about the characters or the stories until these last few books. I think it was interesting to read the ‘real’ stories behind Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, that Grandmother was really a witch trying to cure a wolf and the essence was sucked out of him and thrown into the Woodsman. The trial was horrible, but it w...more

In book 6 of the Sisters Grimm books the psychotic Little Red Riding Hood (Red) is back, hence the play on words of the title. In Buckley's great world where fairytale characters are real people known as Everafters there is a town called Ferryport Landing. The Grimm family, last descendants of the fairy tale collectors Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm, are under attack from the meglomania Mayor the Queen of Hearts and her malignant sidekick the Sheriff of Nottigham, but because they cannot get rid of fam...more

Notes;
Mr. Canis is on trial. Robin Hood is his lawyer. The Mad Hatter is the judge.
Uncle Jake orders a "treasure chest" which takes them anywhere they want to go
Goldilocks is in Europe.
The Scarlet Hand has sent a Black Knight after her. They are in control of Ferryport Landing.
They go after her through the treasure chest because they need her to kiss Henry, their dad, so he can wake up from the spell.
Sabrina stole a key from Daphne, went to the bank and found a kazoo in the deposit box.

Sabrina got slightly more annoying again, but she wasn't too bad. The characters were all still pretty stupid though. And I'm really annoyed by how arbitrarily they treat the law. Sometimes the Sheriff is all "I'm going to completely ignore the law!" and other times he clearly wants to break the law, but just doesn't for some reason. His choice about whether or not to break the law basically only seems to follow the rule of "Well, the author wants him to follow/not follow it because of y." It's...more

Have you ever wanted to go into a courtroom filled with out of control fairy-tale characters? Or visit the actual house of Red Riding Hoods grandmother? Well then Tales from the Hood is the best book for you. It is a well written book by the amazing author Michael Buckley.
When Mr. Canis is tried for his past crimes as the Big Bad Wolf, by a crazy judge and courtroom, the Grimms seek to find evidence that can save their family friend. But as they sea...more

Ahh -- after all the books in the series and the trouble with the scarlet hand we are finally defining the lines of battle. This is wonderful! We loved this book and eagerly await the next one -- which because no one seems to own it in Connecticut we have to buy. I figure once it is in the library system, other libraries will want to borrow it from us! We finally determine how the Big Bad Wolf became the monster that he was and we also know that Robin Hood and his Merry Men will join the ranks o...more

This is a great book. The whole Little Red Riding Hood idea is really good. Once again, Michael Buckley has turned fairytales upside down!!

BUT, I must say a few things. 1. WHERE IS THE ROMANCE??? I am not a huge romance fan, haven't read the Twilight books or anything, but I feel Sabrina and Puck should like each other more. They did kiss, but when they were handcuffed together and Puck told her she was pretty, I wished Sabrina had said, "Thank you Puck." And squeesed his hand or something.

This was a fun read! The Sisters Grimm detective books, the best fractured fairy-tale series I've come across, seem to get better with each new installment. In this one, the sixth, we find out what really happened in the story of Little Red Riding Hood, as the Big Bad Wolf goes on trial for murder, with Robin Hood and Little John as the defense attorneys, Bluebeard as the prosecutor, and the Mad Hatter as the judge. As usual, Puck the Trickster King is on hand creating havoc throughout the story...more

I mainly like this book because by now, I have invested so much in the individual characters that I like to hear what happens next, no matter how poorly delivered. I enjoyed the twist on the Little Red Riding Hood tale, which includes the origins of the Big Bad Wolf. And I love the quirky little comments from Puck.

However, Buckley is choosing to make each successive novel more and more episodic - feeling more like the next half an hour of a television show than a real book. And I have never like...more

This book was about Mr. Canis' trial for eating Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother but during the book you learn the real story behind it that her grandmother was really trying to cure Red of her maddness with the kazoo which was in the safe deposit box that Hamstead gave them a key to in Once Upon A Crime, during all this Jake is still trying to track down Goldilocks so she can wake up Sabrina and Daphne's parents. Also Daphne tries to be more grown up in thus being more Sabrina and just plai...more

Mr. Canis, the Big Bad Wolf himself, has been arrested, which leaves the Grimms without their most powerful ally and protector. Charged with the murder of Red Riding Hood's grandmother he has been chained in a prison cell. Mayor Heart and Sheriff Nottingham refuse the Grimms visiting rights. To help Mr. Canis Granny Relda turns to the Sherwood Group, the only Everafters to have become lawyers, and asks Robin Hood and his Merry Men to represent Mr. Canis. Unfortunately any trial set-up by Mayor H...more

In the book the Grimms try to get Mr. Canis out of jail. As they do so they discover the surprising truth of Little Red Riding Hood.
The truth of Red Riding Hood was very surprising. Red Riding Hood went to her grandma. She was mentally sick and her grandma was a witch. The grandma wanted to cure Red Riding Hood by pulling the bad in Red Riding Hood out with a magical kazoo. She practiced it on a wolf with rabies and put the bad stuff of the wolf into a jar. But when Red Riding Hood came so did...more

I love the Sisters Grimm books!

I did like this #6 of the series. I liked the quirky "real" tale of Little Red Riding Hood. The injustices of the trial of the Big Bad Wolf with the Mad Hatter as the judge and Blue Beard as the prosecutor. However, the series seems to ignore the building of the other plotlines, such as, what about the Red Hand, what about the future storyline and what about Sabrina's and Daphne's parents. Mr. Buckley seems to add new storylines and not tie off old storylines. I hope book #7 doesn't add more que...more

I've gotten really caught up in this series, to the point that I'm feeling anxious. Hopefully the next two books will arrive in the library soon! I've been impressed by Buckley's development of Sabrina. These events are happening close together chronologically, so she hasn't had time to grow up and mature. She often does things that are, in reality, a bit despicable, but I've been given enough access to her background that I understand what she's doing and don't fault her too much. It's not like...more

I recently read The Sister’s Grimm Tales of the hood book 6. The author is Michael Buckley. Number of ages is 274. The year was published 2008. This book is intended for fifth to ninth graders. The problem is Mr. Canis is in Jail.
The setting is Ferryport Landing The Main characters are Sabrina she is a Grimm fairy-tale detective but doesn't want to be. She has blonde hair and has a crush on Puck. Daphne she is a wonderful spirited kid. She loves fairy-tales and is a Grimm.

This book, "Tales From the Hood," is not about a crime or mystery in Ferryport Landing, but instead its about winning Mr. Canis's freedom back. In this book the two main characters, Sabrina and Daphne are trying to help with the trial of the century although Sabrina doesn't know if that is a spectacular idea. she is nervous because the Big Bad Wolf is trapped inside of Mr. Canis, and is taking control. Outside of the courthouse, the family meets up with a couple of people from the famous tale, "...more

This book was an easy read and read it in one sitting. In the book we are introduced to all the previous fairytale characters: Snow white, Briar Rose, Queen of Hearts, Charming and many more, plus were also introduced to new ones too, like Bluebeard! In Buckley's re-telling of the Grimm Fairytales we see more than just the story and the happily ever happy ending, we also see the aftermath of the story. Their lives a few hundreds of years later.

This is one of my favorite re-telling of the fairyta...more

I will try and not say too much about this book. It follows Magic and Misdemeanors which is one of my favorite books in the series, so it had a hard act to follow.

The book continues the wonderful journey that Michael Buckley has put the readers on several books ago.

There is further defining of characters and relationships get a bit more complicated.

The man also knows how to end a book:-)

Next book should be pretty action packed...

I also have an idea what book 8 will be about.

Book 6 in the Sisters Grimm series, Tales from the Hood by Michael Buckley continues to delight. The girls continue in their quest to wake their parents from an enchanted sleep and defend themselves and their friends from the increasingly hostile Scarlet Hand. All the humans have been run out of the town and the Queen of Hearts and the Sheriff of Nottingham are calling all the shots. The Big Bad Wolf is on trial, Little Red Riding Hood comes to his rescue, Robin Hood and his Merry Men take on th...more

In this book the Grimm family is losing their old friend for good. Then, when the mayor decided to give the Big Bad Wolf a trial to defend himself. The mayor is doing everything in their power to find him guilty; the Grimm family is tracking down a hospitalized "friend" in order to find out the truth of the Big Bad Wolf. The truth will shock you! I really do like these books though because the take twists on normal fairy tales and turns into very suspenseful mysteries!

I thought this novel had really strong parts, but lacked on emphasizing parts that were really important. Some parts were dull, and others were just really great. I thought Daphne was really trying to grow up, and I loved how she found herself in the end. I think Sabrina has some more growing to do, and a lot more thinking to do. When Daphne and Sabrina were torn apart a bit in the end, it was heart breaking. I like the steady growing relationship between Puck and Sabrina. It's cute, and mature...more

This was yet an awesome book! The Grimm Sisters(Sabrina and Daphne) tries to find Goldilocks to help their father(Henry) wake up by letting Goldy kiss him since she's his true love. They have problems along trying to find Goldy, such as: Mr.Canis has to go to court. Mr. Canis is in wolf form and currently is getting hairier and angrier(I think all wolves are like that.) Read to find out what happens to Mr.Canis and to see if Jake, Daphne, and Sabrina can find Goldilocks. I recommend this book fo...more
