My first read book in 2016. And not a very good one, if I may add.

Silent Night is a story about a family whose son gets kidnapped on Christmas eve, written by one and only Mary Higgins Clark aka 'Queen of Suspense'. First thing I want to say is that I have no idea how she got the name 'Queen of Suspense'. When reading her books, suspense is not really the first word that comes to mind.

Secondly, this really wasn't a good book. The plot was predictable, characters were dumb and dialogue was che

Well, I've managed to avoid Higgins Clark, but I couldn't escape her any longer. I grabbed it off the shelf in the cafe in a fit of desperation over something new to read.

She's an engaging storyteller, who can get you involved in the stories and sympathetic to the characters. I can see her telling stories to a crowded room of appreciative listeners.

HOWEVER, does she need to start each new chapter with the full name of the character whose point of view she's shifting me to? It's simply aw

I give Silent Night a 10 out of 10 due to the way Mary Higgins Clark played the book out. Having the wallet stolen and a murder on the lose creates so much suspense in the book that you just can't put the book down. When I first started reading this book I wasn't so sure that I was going to like it, but I was 100% wrong. I liked the part about not only is Brian's dad Tom very sick with leukemia and Brian goes missing to top it all of it is Christmas Eve. What a lovely Christmas present right? Al ...more
I have never read a book by Mary Higgins Clark. I've purposely avoided her books, as I have w/books by James Patterson, Debbie Macomber and other similar authors. I see people reading these books on the subway, and they line the bookshelves at Stop & Shop. I've always dismissed them. But is it right to dismiss things you've never examined or at least perused?

And so a few days ago, my mother brought me this book. She'd read it, said "it wasn't great literature but it's an intriguing story."

I loved the novel. It was absolutely prefect. Although this is a short read, but packs in action and suspense onto each and every page. It keeps you on the edge of your seat through the whole book. Mary Higgins Clark just has a way of keeping you into the novel until you finish her suspense filled books.

In the novel Silent Night, the main character, Catherine Dornan lost her wallet and her son. Her wallet fall out of her handbag, and her son ran after it. A lady named Cally Hunter stole her wal

Always a fan of MHC and have enjoyed everything I've read by her.

I like to read stories of the season around Christmas time and found this
book in a thrift store. While there is some mystery, suspense and thrill
associated with the story, it still ends up being a nice warm Christmas
story of faith, family and hope.

Mrs. Dorman is in NYC while her husband is having surgery. Trying to
divert her sons from their father's illness she takes them on a NY visit

Chilling and suspenseful, Silent Night by Mary Higgins Clark, is a 'happy ending' Christmas story. When Brian Dornan disappears from his mother's side on a cold New York Christmas Eve night, her world just about collapses. Her husband, Dr. Tom Dornan, recently diagnosed with leukemia, had life-saving surgery just hours before. She took her two young sons to view the Christmas sights and sounds of New York, in an effort to relieve them all of their stress. In the blink of an eye, Brian is gone. W ...more

**WARNING: Some spoilers**

Mary Higgins Clark sure had me on my toes with this one!! She is a talented storyteller. There was a lot of action in this short novel that it's hard to believe all of that action was less that 160 pages!

This novel had the perfect amount of suspense and Christmas atmosphere to be one of my favorite novels. It was a heart filled story about the Magic of Christmas and love.

I did sympathize with Cally. I think she did the right thing by not covering up for her brother Jim

I originally bought this book for holiday guests as a treat to read while visiting, but I had never it. I took it with me to my parents home to read Christmas week. While is wasn't one of her best, I will say it was a perfect book for a quick holiday read. I finished it easily in the week that I was there (stretching the last few pages out to last me the whole week). It wasn't too intense for reading during the joyous holidays. And it wasn't such a page-turner that I didn't want to put it down - ...more

Just in time for the holiday season. In another classic Christmas mystery from Mary Higgins Clark, Silent Night, she told us a heart-warming tale about love and life. For Catherine Dorman, she took her family to New York City for a life-saving operation on her husband who was just diagnosed with leukemia. To lift off their spirits, they went to Rockefeller. But her son Brian saw a woman pickpocket her wallet and steal the St. Christopher medal that would help save his father's life. He chased th ...more

I don' t particularly recommend Silent Night as a holiday read--especially not as a secular Christmas story--but I suppose it might be an emotional book for anyone with whom the themes of faith and parent/child love resonate or anyone who has a weakness for stories involving child abduction and/or cancer. For my full review, see here.

Silent Night is second book of Mary Higging Clark I have read so far. I started liking her works after I read Moonlight becomes you last December. Contrary to my first book of her, Silent Night was intended to be a Christmas gift from the author to her readers. The story has a suspense element (which did not surprise me at all) woven around a Christmas theme in New York. If you haven't read this book yet, wait until next Christmas to make your read interesting.

A quick read. This is a book for someone who doesn't have a lot of time to read a long novel. It's short=concise but has it all. great characters--good story line-will tug at your heart and make you wonder how a small boy can do what he did to get something back to make his father well.
A good book to read anytime not just at Christmass,
A quick read. Interesting info on St. Christopher medal. Enjoyed the suspense wondering what was going to happen to Brian. I liked Cally and how she tried her best with Jimmy but she knew she had to stay away from him for her daughter's sake.

I loved this book. It was a quick read with a little mystery mixed with a little drama all set at Christmas time. I have always been a Mary Higgins Clark fan but haven't read a book by her in a long time. Picked up this gem at the library sale and I'm so glad I did. Good story.

Loved it. I love that she has no violence, sex or vulgar language in her books. She is my favorite writer.
Attempting to read Christmas fiction for this week. Honestly, I sort of stopped caring about halfway through and had to force myself to finish it.

This is the first of Mary Higgens Clark that I have ever read and I SO THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK -- I COULDN'T GO TO BED UNTIL I FINISHED IT! Such a perfect, fast moving, quick read! And such a wonderful story for the Christmas season --written with warmth, yet set against a background of menace and suspense Silent Night is about courage in the face of adversity, and faith renewed and rewarded! Such a wonderful Christmas Eve read!!! (but I read it Halloweeny night!)

A wonderful page turning, t

I thought it could have been a great book, but the characters weren't developed at all. It was just an idea for a book, not the whole thing.
