She was looking for sweet. And kind. And loyal. If he happened to be cute, too, then so much the better. But not a distant, egotistical, workaholic doctor . . .

The Trouble with Paradise was one of those crazy books, but nice.

Dorie Anderson has a crappy boss and job, she trained as a designer but is working in mart, her hair is all out of control, her mother constantly nags her to marry a doctor like a sister and she is clumsy in front of cute men(her tongue swells up), so when she wins a free cruise she jumps.

Well, there she is clumsy again when she runs into cute baseball guy Andy.
Christian is a doctor on-board and is not happy about it. He is paying...more

Some Trouble With Trouble
Stuck in a dead-end job she hates, Dorie Anderson was thrilled to win an all-expense paid South Pacific cruise. This may be her one shot at the sort of adventure retail clerks at Shop-Mart only dream about. She starts to feel like she's getting a bit more than she bargained for when she first sees the plank leading up to the exquisite 80 ft sailboat, and has a bit of difficulty actually crossing it to get on board. The appearance of totally gorgeous and really quite swee...more

This book was fun, but lacked something. I like brooding characters as much as the next reader, but this book was a little much.

Dorie Anderson is looking for some excitement in her life. She has a boring and predictable job that has sucked the life out of her existence and her clothing designs are becoming more and more distant. So when she gets a call informing her that she’s won an all-expense paid cruise in the South Pacific, she goes for it. The thing is, she really has issues around cute me...more

I enjoyed this one - it's a frothy romance with lots of smile-worthy dialogue. The heroine turns into a klutz every time she meets a cute guy - so it's really a good thing she doesn't think the hunky doctor is cute. Gorgeous? Yes. Grumpy? Definitely... And the sexy French accent does nothing for her. Really.

The heroine's plans for a carefree sail in the sunny South Seas runs into a few snags. There's the hurricane which drives them off course and damages the boat. And the emergency equipment is...more

The Trouble with Paradise by Jill Shalvis

4 Stars

Dorie Anderson is taking a vacation from Los Angeles to sandy the Fiji beaches in the hopes that her new outfits will help her find a cute guy. Unfortunately, she doesn't expect to be shipwrecked! Fortunately there are two attractive guys that have been shipwrecked along with her. Andy is a professional baseball player who seems to be a smooth ladies' man, and Christian, the ship's intriguing doctor. The worry o...more

I really liked "The Trouble With Paradise" by Jill Shalvis.

Dorie Anderson and the French sexy grumpy Dr. Christian Montague's book.

I liked Dorie. Right away, I really liked her and continued to love her all through the book. She was as real as they come and I could totally picture her being one of my girlfriends.

The Trouble With Paradise is my first Jill Shalvis book and it will not be my last. Once I got past the 80's looking cover, the story was enjoyable and entertaining with a little bit...more

Everyone who knows me knows I am a huge Jill Shalvis fan. Her books are not only fun, humorous, and romantic, but they have a special quality about them that can make you feel every emotion and take you to that wonderful place she has created. A few books ago, I decided to conquer her back list and I have to say I am not even close to done. Which if you ask is definitely a very good thing.

Dorie Anderson is looking for some excitement in her life. She not only has a boring and predictable job, bu...more

deserted island + sexy frenchman = sign me up!

This book was great fun to read! I love the sexy male characters that Jill Shalvis writes up, and Christian the sexy doctor with a French accent is no exception. Dorie was a great female lead too -the chemistry was great!

The little suspenseful plot twist was interesting, and I could not figure out who "did it" until the big reveal, which was great.

My only complaint is that Jill Shalvis always makes one of the love interests a commitment phobe, and t...more

This was a funny, sexy, hot romance which, in a book, is right up my alley. It's a great book for the beach, too, but I don't recommend it for a cruise. You would have to read it to understand why. I loved the hero, loved the heroine. The story, while not totally believable for me, kept me interested. The secondary characters could have been stronger, but they still helped carry the story along and made you wonder if one of them would have their own story later. Poor, klutzy Dorie was the everyw...more

Gilligan's Island meets Survivor and with a little bit of who-dun-it, yeah maybe. Jill Shalvis is one of my favorite authors and The Trouble with Paradise was a quick, easy, funny, enjoyable, sexy read. I thought the the H and h were sizzling together, the supporting characters were lively, a bit neurotic and I really didn't know who did it until the last 40 pages- kept you guessing. Yet in keeping it hidden so long without any clues, everybody was a good guy so when the killer was revealed it a...more

One phone call has turned Dorie’s dead-end life into an adventure: she’s won a trip on a singles cruise to Fiji. With her cutest outfits packed and the Love Boat theme in her head. Dorie boards – and soon meets two men: a pro baseball player with an irresistible Texas drawl, and the ship’s dark and mysterious French doctor, Dr. Christian Montague. She’s sure to fall head over heels in no time. She just never expected to do it so quickly, or so literally, tripping over her luggage.

Dorie Anderson's life is just not turning out as great as she had hoped. She is at a dead in job in the retail world, when really what she wants is to be a fashion designer. Then consider her love life, or lack of in any case. All in the blink of an eye Dorie is on her way to Fiji on a cruise with not one but two hunky men who have caught her eye. Things turn sour when the yacht ends up in a terrible storm leaving them shipwrecked. At least she has sexy doctor, Christian to tend to her needs.

^^ FROM PARADISE TO HELL!^^

The trouble with paradise is that the ship you are on might get caught up in a storm and you feel you might die. Also a crew member could go missing and a whole lot of blood is found in his room and the suspects are the people that are stuck on a deserted island with you. That’s the trouble with paradise and Dorie Anderson is finding that out for herself.

So before the trip that changed her life Dorie was just your regular everyday girl. She worked at a Shop Mart a dep...more

This is a good beach read but not a great work of literature. It revolves around a woman named Dorie who has a dead end job who takes a risk by taking a boat trip to Fiji. Unfortunately, the boat is shipwrecked on a desert island after a crew member mysteriously disappears. Luckily, Dorie is distracted enough by lust and "rain forest sex" not to worry about any of that.

An easy and entertaining read but very predictable without much plot or chacter development.

A very enjoyable read once again by Ms Shalvis, although not one of her best. I think I enjoy her books best when the men in the stories are already friends or become friends. The dynamic between them is always so funny and make me laugh out loud.

That being said, I still loved this book and thought Christian was a wonderful hero. Dorie was great too, very strong, holding it together through the tough times. Definitely makes me want to go on a cruise LOL

Not my favorite Shalvis book but an okay read.

Dottie has won the trip of a lifetime... And it just might end get life. She's a klutzy, aspiring designer who has two handsome man lusting after her (Shalvis breaks up the triangle pretty fast which was very refreshing.) The trip quickly becomes a nightmare when a large storm breaks and it doesn't seem like the ship is going to make it.
A quick, fun read without much depth. Perfect for a summer trip book.

Good beach or pool side read. Light, breezy and very little mental effort required. However, since there IS a shipwreck, I'd lay off this on a cruise. :o) Well, maybe not. Its just too light hearted to take the wreck seriously, and, unless you're on a tall ship (i.e. sail) luxury cruise, it still shouldn't give anyone any heart palpataions to read while lazing around in that cabin.

This might be my favorite Shalvis book. It was silly and fun. The plot wasn't anything new, but the dialogue was great and the banter kept me invested. I also enjoyed the relationship that the women made with each other in addition to the romance.

Overall, a great, fun read. I loved trying to keep Christian's accent going in my head. :)

I adore Jill Shalvis and I didn't think she could do bad but apparently she can because this is in fact bad...had it not been a Shalvis book I would have tossed it halfway through....now I just wasted my time finishing it..

I felt no chemistry between the characters and Dorie was getting on my nerves and the whole book just gah...

This was a cute romance about a girl who wins a free vacation to Fiji. She meets a yummy baseball player on board her trips yacht but only has eyes for the other guy, the hunky Dr. who has a to-die-for French accent.A murder occurs on the shop and they become stranded on an island. Love and a rescue follow followed by a HEA.

I really enjoyed this book. Super fun book with a french-doctor hottie, professional baseball player hottie, funny heroine with a serious wicked sense of irony, a couple of fun girlfriends, and a deserted island with a waterfall shower...what's not to love?!?! Would be a GREAT beach or vacation read...

Book #14 of 2013

This was a cute little feel-good romance that I actually quite enjoyed. The ending was a bit abrupt though. The hurricane bit reminded me of waiting out Hurricane Sandy in Jamaica in October. Our hurricane adventure was much less troublesome than the one in this book.

Omg, I did not remember the name of this book. I read it while I was in US and I was trying to remember the name for the whole time. Now I had to google it and I found it. I really enjoyed this book. I am sad that I did not bring it with me to Finland.

Meh. Certainly by far not my favorite Jill Shalvis. Still light fun and sexy. I liked out hero. The heroine was just a bit on the whiny/unrealistically clumsy side. A good way to spend a few hours but don't go out of your way to find it.

Read some dud by JS recently so was pleasantly surprised with this one, I think it was the characters Dorie and Christian, they really did it for me...Dorie was charmingly normal/klutzy but not embarassingly so...Christian was just perfect!

I really loved the story in this book, but it's only getting three stars from me because I couldn't get attached to the lead female. Something about her just annoyed me! I loved gorgeous grumpy doctor and baseball cutie Andy though:) The added twist of the murder was fun too!
Dawn ♥ romance
I really liked this story about Dorie, a wannabe dress designer in a dead end job, who wins a Fiji cruise and being accident prone spends lots of time with ships french doctor Christian. Their relationship was steamy but so on and off.
Michelle
I loved this book. The suspense was good, Dorie was perfectly naive and funny and clumsy and Christian was HOT! It was a light romance with some edginess. Not exactly a plausible plot, but definitely worth the read!
