All in one day, city girl Breanne Mooreland gets left at the altar, takes the flight from hell to her honeymoon - alone - loses her luggage, and ends up snowed in at a Sierra mountains lodge run by the kookiest staff this side of the Addams Family. Oh, and there just happens to be a gorgeous naked man taking a shower in her suite who says he isn't going anywhere. Burned-ou...more

Breanne Mooreland has had it with her run of bad luck when it comes to men, jilted at the alter she decides to go ahead and use the honeymoon retreat they had planned. She should have realized that the groom not showing up was the first sign that her life was about to go completely awry, now facing a naked man in her honeymoon suite has her running for the door.

Vice cop Cooper Scott just wanted a week to get his head in order. Having had his life in shambles over the past couple of...more

Oh my...I just started reading this one and it's making me laugh so bad that I am afraid I will be losing some sleep again. So much for my trying to have an early night in...

*Edit: I finished reading it and I really enjoyed it. Having said that, I have to admit that I do not think it's the best book I read by Jill Shalvis, but somehow it took me on a trip down memory lane and reminded me of my own little "quirks" and things I enjoy(ed) doing such as falling in love (or lust...more

Tied for my favorite of JS's work. For a murder mystery with romance and humor I liked this story. The heroine decides to go on her honeymoon alone after she is left at the altar.
Some people said her accidently picking up the complimentary honeymoon suite lighted vibrator instead of the flashlight when the lights go out (of course the lights go out! This is a "secluded-lodge-in-the-woods" kinda mystery) was not funny, but I was FOFLMAO. Plus, the hero is a sexy cop. :o) What book do...more

A crazy cute story, as to be expected from Jill Shalvis. The chapter headers were very hilarious. I am a sucker for a comedic romance and can always count on JS for that.
Truly an enjoyable read. And the sex was very hot and wicked. That's cool copper Cooper for you.

****SPOILER ALERT***** - I'm just sayin' - You've been warned!

I enjoy Jill Shalvis' writing style, and I was not disappointed. Breanne has been stood up at the alter (third time jilted in her short life) but decides to head up to the remote ski lodge she and her fiancee had planned on going to. When she gets there, the room - or shall I say the shower - is occupied by one hunky, oh-so-alpha male, Cooper.

May I pause and just say 'Yum'? Thank you - where was I?

I think I'm addicted to Jill Shalvis's books. I really love her writing and the flow of each story she created. So amazing. Here I am, have devoured one of her novels--Get A Clue

I totally enjoyed the premise. The humour was cracking like hell. Definite hilarious I laughed out loud. The romance was awesome, cute, lovely and sweet. The chemistry between Breanne and Copper was so powerful. So powerful that the sexual tension was absolute madness--it's killing me.

Get a Clue by Jill Shalvis is a crazy book, with a haunted house, weird help, people disappearing, lights going off. Crazy in one word.
Breanne our heroine has just been dumped at the altar for the 3rd time. Yup, she chooses the worst men ever. She is the baby of the family and has her father and four brothers wrapped around her finger, she changes jobs frequently. So, after being dumped, braving a bumpy flight, loosing her luggage, she arrives in the middle of the night to the place she wa...more

And You Thought YOU Were Having a Bad Day
She was left at the alter (again), and is now on her honeymoon with no groom. She's wet, freezing cold, stuck in a strange place, caught in a storm the likes of which hasn't been seen in centuries, with no electricity (she's afraid of the dark), no luggage (got lost in transit), a naked man in her shower (okay, so that's not exactly a bad thing), and all she's got as a flashlight is a glow in the dark vibrator that was part of the honeymoon package t...more

If Aussie Rules mystery was backburner quality, this books mystery quotient was practically non-existent. I just couldn't get into it at all. I don't have trouble with love at first sight books, but I just wasn't buying it in this case. Maybe because the characters seemed unrealistic. If I am supposed to believe Breanne is tough and independent, then make her act tough and independent. Don't make her cry at the drop of a hat and jump into some random guys arms every chance she gets. Being scared...more

So far I haven't read a Jill Shalvis book that I didn't like. I've liked them so much, that I'm going to go out and get every book she's written that I haven't read. What I love about her books is that there is a good story, a zany cast of characters, humor, and plenty of sexy times. It's not overly done, like in some books, but provides the perfect balance with every story.

In this book, Breanne is left at the alter- for the third time. Not letting a good honeymoon go to waste, she ...more

Jill Shalvis is a fun author...this book was cute and fun.

Breanne goes on her "honeymoon" after being left at the altar--nothing goes right--her flight is terrible, her luggage is lost, and when she finally arrives at the house she rented, someone else is in the honeymoon suite! Cooper Scott is looking to find out what to do with his life now that he quit his job. He needs some R&R and maybe a nice ski bunny...not a crazy woman with a smart mouth!

Since this ...more

I guess the cover should have been a clue (pun intended), but this contemporary romance is just like a game of Cluedo, only it isn't Colonel Mustard in the billiard room with the lead piping. The mystery surrounding the dead body is intriguing, but is secondary to the romance between jilted-at-the-altar-but-on-the-honeymoon-anyway Breanne and burnt-out vice cop Cooper, who have been double-booked into the same honeymoon suite at a posh, snowed-in lodge. When she first encounters him he is naked ...more

I’ve previously read a couple of short stories by Jill Shalvis (in the two Men of Courage collections), but this was the first full-length novel. If they are all this good, I will definitely be reading a lot more!

After being left at the altar for the third time, Breanne Mooreland departs for the secluded vacation lodge high in the Sierras ready for her (not) honeymoon and some serious alone time. She wasn’t expecting the flight from San Francisco to turn into hell in the air ...more

What a great story this is! A little on the steamy side and a little bit of suspense wrapped up into a wonderful read that I thoroughly enjoyed!

This story is about a woman named Breanne who all her life has always makes the wrong choices. Being left at the altar (THREE TIMES) she decides this final time she is giving up men, NO MORE MEN. So she uses her honeymoon to get away for a bit, ALONE in the Sierra mountains in a fully staffed lodge. That is until she stumbles upon a hotti...more

Shalvis is a never-fail for me. I like her writing style, and her books always tickle my funny bone. While I have seen some of these themes in other books of hers (swearing off men in Simply Irresistible, trapped in the dark in Aftershocks, strangers sharing a room in Instant Attraction), the characters make the situations new and I never find myself bored. Like the other books of hers that I've read, I consumed this book in less than 48 hours because I just could not put it down. The chemistry ...more

A light quick fun read. A farce in two acts basically. Our heroine, Breanne Moreland is dumped at the alter for the third time and decides to go on the honeymoon by herself. Due to a highly unlikely series of events, she ends up trapped in a mountain lodge in a snowstorm in a room with a cop on hiatus, no clothes to wear, cut off from the world, and a dead body in the basement. Light and fun. Being a Jill Shalvis book, there is still a fair chunk of hot sex and funny lines to be had. Don't...more

For contemporary romance, Jill Shalvis is a great place to turn to. Jennifer Crusie is probably my favorite but more and more, Shalvis is becoming another writer I enjoy a lot.
In this book, Breanne Mooreland is supposed to be enjoying a romantic honeymoon at a remote lodge in Colorado but she was dumped on her wedding day. And there's a strange man in her shower. And something strange going on in the lodge. And there's a body in the basement.
Need to suspend a lot of disbelief for this ...more

Take the heat and sizzle from an episode of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, mix it in with the mystery from MURDER, SHE WROTE, then stir it together with a dash of the exotic from SIX FEET UNDER and what you have is Jill Shalvis's romantic-mystery-comedy, GET A CLUE. The current installment in the "Wicked" Women Whodunit series, this book is sure to make you laugh, pant, and cheer-all at the same time.

I skimmed through this book. About a woman, Breanne who goes to her honeymoon alone after being jilted at the altar for the 3rd time. When she gets there she finds a naked man showering in her honeymoon suite and embarrassingly oogles him. He catches her and she runs off and then he follows. Then the lights go out. Cooper Scott is a cop who has left the force and is trying to figure out his life. Meanwhile there is a giant snowstorm and the electricity has gone out, and the main boss of the hote...more

As usual Jill's steamy novels, not only work to keep you warm with some of the best bedroom scenes ever, but beyond that, her books contain a real story. This book was a real page turner, in fact I had a real problem putting it down for any length of time and wanted to be able to gobble it up in one sitting.
Jill is among my most favorite authors (top 4 easily) and I am working to read every single book she has ever written.

It was cute enough for a beach read, but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it to anyone.
I almost never say this, but the story could have used a few extra pages just to explain a few things about the character's backgrounds. Especially the heroine...whatever-her-name-was, that got dumped at the alter. I really would have liked to have read a little more about her relationship with the ex-fiancee, and more about her family dynamics. All of this was sort of mentioned in passing, as t...more

A fast-read that had mild suspense, hot times between the sheets, and a lead female who needed to take a deep breath and calm down for the majority of the book. Seriously, the girl freaked out more in three days than I have my entire life. It started getting old. Cooper, on the other hand, didn't, which is why the book gets three stars instead of two.

Jill's books are much better now, so I probably won't be digging up anymore of her older works.

A fun read - the heroine has had the week from hell:
* fancy wedding - but the groom doesn't show up
* rather than face the commiseration and speculation - she flies off on her prepaid honeymoon - on an airplane with screaming, odoriferous passengers
* she arrives at her Tahoe destination - but her luggage doesn't, leaving her with two scanty negligees and some makeup to face a week in the Sierras
* nobody mentioned that the Sierras were being hit by the 'storm of the century...more

I KNOW I've read this book before! I only wish I had remembered that PRIOR to dropping A WHOLE BUCK for my used copy. Just kidding!

It's great revisiting these characters and the crazy, weird situation they find themselves in.

Not sure if I'm leaning towards Patrick or Cooper (hero) on the the sexiest guy in the book award, though. Cooper!

Definitely Cooper.

I enjoyed revisiting this story. It was funny, sexy, and a really fast read!

I would have give this 3 1/2 stars but for some reason 1/2 stars don't exist.

I loved Cooper and Stacy was adorable but Breanne really grated on me, her attitude in the first half of the book made her instantly unlikeable which is a shame because she almost turned it around the last hundred or so pages. Having said that, the plot was good and the writing was good so it wasnt a bad way to pass my evenings.

This book was by far the best mystery/romance book I've read in a long time. The two characters, Breanne and Cooper, were so great together! Their chemistry was just sizzling! Breanne was a bit snobbish but Cooper never let her get away with it. There was bits of humor sprinkled throught and all in the right spots. I loved this book and will definately be reading it again.

I would probably have described this book as "cute", except for one thing: there was just too much sex. It's well-written, and like I said, would have been a cute story, but it was just too explicit for me. Instead of a good mystery with a little romance, it was a very HOT romance with a tiny bit of mystery. If that's what you're looking for, though, than this is a good one.

A light romantic comedy. Jill Shalvis portrays an unusual honeymoon-a bride without the groom. Amazing that there's a respectable way to be interested and take another man so soon after being left at the alter. Must be that the first choice was definitely wrong for the bride, and when the right man appears, at any time, it's an unstoppable plunge into romance.
Nell
Enjoyable romp with a hint of crime. Would have given it a five but I felt there were editing issues. I can 'barely' stand the word gotten in US books but when it's used umpteen times in the first few pages then it throws me out of the story. Looking forward though to reading more of Jill's books. Delicious hero and well written sex.
