This is the 3rd book in the Coffeehouse Mystery series and, I think, significantly better than the first two. The first volume was trying too hard to be a mystery/romance and the romance bits were slightly over the top and awkward. It felt a bit like it had been composed by committee, so it wasn't much of a surprise to learn that "Cleo Coyle" is the pen name for a husband and wife writing duo. Unlike Clare Cosi, the romantically confused, but endearing main character in the series, the couple wh...more
After being out of the public eye for several years, fashion designer Lottie Harmon is staging a comeback with a collection of coffee-inspired fashion accessories and chooses the Village Blend Coffeehouse as the perfect place to launch the collection. Claire Cosi, manager of the Village Blend, feels a bit out of place in the fashion world, but is thrilled with the turnout for the event. Thrilled that is, until one of the guests is killed by a poisonous latte and one of her baristas, Tucker, is a...more
To Clare Cosi's surprise the latest must-have fall fashion item is anything coffee themed. After Village Blend regular Lottie Harmon designs a hit range of coffee bean inspired accessories, she decides to host her Fashion Week promo party at the coffeehouse. The "Java Jewellery" quickly proves a hit, but when barista Tucker accidentally serves a poisoned latte to a guest Lottie's party takes a turn for the worst. Now with Tucker in jail, Clare is determined to prove his innocence and find out wh...more
The third book in the Coffeehouse Mystery series.
I don't know what it is about these books. I avoid reading them. I like them while I am reading them - but once I finish it I have this aversion to them again. It's really weird. Maybe it's the New York attitude in the books that I find so off puting - I don't know. All I can tell you is that I enjoy them when I read them - but when I go to pick up the next book I seem to put a bunch of other books in front of it and I feel like I am "breaking do...more

Another winner in the coffeehouse mystery series! This one had lots of interesting twists and turns. The love interest bit was not as captivating in this one. I found the coffee information added to the story this time rather than feeling like a know it all friend spouting off as was sometimes the case in the first 2 books. This one was not quite a believable as the other two which is why it garnered slightly lower marks. However, it certainly gave me a hunger for coffeehouse coffees! I stopped...more
In this third part of the Coffeehouse Mystery series, Clare Cosi, the owner of the Village Blend coffee shop in NYC, tries her hand at detective work again when one of her baristas is accused of killing someone by poisoning their coffee drink during a Fashion Week reception held at her location.

Business at the Village Blend is booming and the shop has even inspired a line of accessories that will be shown at fashion week. The designer, Lottie Harmon, is hosting a party at the "Blend" to celebrate her second collection. Tucker, one of Clare's favorite employees, is not in the best mood since his ex is in attendance and treating Tucker badly. When this fellow intercepts a drink intended for Lottie that Tucker is carrying, he gets more than expected when he falls over, dead from cyanide p...more
I really enjoy this series for the characters and the coffee-theme that runs through them as much as for the mysteries.
Clare Cosi, manager of New York's famed Village Blend coffee house is getting lots of attention thanks to designer Lottie Harmon's coffee-themed collection of accessories. Lottie decides to hold the showcase for the launch of the line at the Village Blend.

Another great mystery by Cleo Coyle. Latte Trouble was just as good as the previous books in the series.
Summary:
We meet Clare Cosi divorced manager of the coffeehouse, Village Blend, who she happens to co-own with her ex-husband, Matteo. Matteo is the coffee buyer. Clare has been busy with business and trying to bring more people into the shop. She has accepted the role of coffee caterer during fashion week for up and coming (for the second time) accessory designer, Lottie Harmon. Everything is...more

This cozy mystery, like the previous two coffeehouse mysteries, was very enjoyable and clipped along at quite a smooth pace. Since I enjoy coffee almost as much as Clare, I look forward to her tips and coffee brewing recipes and tricks. The storyline was intriguing and not at all predictable, and I was finding myself second guessing up until the moment the murderer was finally revealed. Matteo and Madame are growing on me, and Clare's character has become rather endearing. I liked how Coyle invo...more
You would think lengthy descriptions about the different New York settings would be a put off during the mystery, but it just adds to the story. I love Manhattan, so I find the history just as interesting as trying to figure out who the murderer is.
As far as the main characters go; Clare is still trying to keep Matteo at arms distance. Or so she tried that one night. Mike Quinn is back and his presence annoys Matteo. Which makes me laugh each time it happens. :)

Loved loved loved this book! It took me awhile to finish it due to a hectic school schedule. Once I had some time I really dug in. So much exciting stuff going on and it was a nice mind vacation from all the serious sometimes sad school reads. The only thing that slightly disappointed me was the way Clare treats Matteo. I use the word slightly because I understand her trepidations however he is really trying to change. How she expect him to act different if she won't give him a chance? Then agai...more
Third in the Coffeehouse Mystery series revolving around an historic coffeehouse set in Greenwich Village in NYC and the people involved with it.
My Take
This is such a fun series---be sure to load up on your favorite cup of joe before you sit down with one of Coyle's stories! Coyle provides lots of coffee facts whether it's about the history of the bean, the differences in the roast or the beans' preparation, or simply how to make a good espresso. Since Clare is also interested in food, you won't...more

This is the third book in the Coffehouse Mystery series set in New York City. Clare is hosting an event for a fashion designer who makes coffee themed jewelry at the coffeehouse during Fashion Week. When one of the guests is poisoned, suspicion is placed on her barista, especially when the police find out that the victim was a former boyfriend. However, the coffee was meant for the fashion designer, Lottie. Clare begins to investigate to try to clear Tucker and find out who the real killer is. T...more
3rd in the Coffeehouse Mystery series.
It seems that New Yorkers have an infallible way to tell when summer has ended and fall arrives that has nothing to do with the weather or calendar--Fall Fashion Week takes over Bryant Park in the back of the New York Public Library. Fashionistas of every description descend on New York from all over the world. The Village Blend is right in the middle, serving as the host for Lottie Harmon’s Fashion Week party. Harmon, a fantastically successful accessory de...more

I discovered this series somewhat recently, and am going through the books just as fast as I can. Clare and the gang at the Village Blend have quickly become one of my favorite reads. The stories are light yet engaging, the Greenwich Village setting brings back fond memories, and quite frankly I am an absolute coffee fiend (the helpful coffee hints are great!) with a love for independent coffeehouses...so what’s not to like here??

Cleo Coyle has done it again! Mesmerized readers with her fascinating writing ability! There were many parts that I did not want to put this book down. Starting out with a bang there is a mysterious murder at the Village Blend. One murder, one seriously injured, and one attempted victim that is. Throughout the rest of the book there are twists and turns, but none hold anything to a major twist Coyle includes around ten pages before the end. You will be shocked, literally gasping out loud - at le...more

I'm in difficulty to review for this books because the series is in progress and because in every book the protagonists grow up and the story are all different not good or bad, so I liked Latte Trouble because the plot was more complex ,and only to the end I understand the culprit. Merit to author the clearness of trail so that its possible keep on the story.
The mystery in this one felt 'thin' to me. Too much other stuff was written about, but I didn't care. I really enjoy the characters and atmosphere in these stories too much to quibble about an almost non-existent suspense element.
Though not a favorite in this series, I have the next few sitting on my bookcase waiting for me and will read them with pleasure!

Latte Trouble, by Cleo Coyle is book #3 of the Coffeehouse Mystery Series. I have enjoyed the first two books in this series however, the ending to this book was similar to many cozy mysteries I have read before. I found that disappointing.

This is the first in the series that I have read. It was okay. I really love coffee so I thought I would enjoy the setting of this book, but I had a really hard time caring about the characters (which is odd for me).

This is the third book in the Coffeehouse Mystery series. These books are set in New York's Historic District where famous playwrights and authors once lived and and wrote their finest works. As mztter of fact the very coffeehouse that these mysteries are set in once had some of these famous people as guests.
This coffeehouse is often chosen by the elite of New York society because of its setting and its wonderful coffee so it's no surprise when it's chosen for a Fall Fashion Week by one of New Y...more

One of the weaker books in the series, I thought. There's a tendency in Latte Trouble for the author to go off on historical tangents in the middle of scenes. I kind of enjoy these tangents when they're about coffee (after all, that's part of what I signed up for by choosing a coffee cozy), but I'm less interested in the history of various NYC landmarks.

I like this mystery series. It revolves around something that's of interest to me (COFFEE) and has a really interesting characters, storyline, and intensity plus a little romance. In this book, it's about a poisoned latte at the coffeehouse, that Clare manages and is part owner. As a result of the poisoned latte, the assistant manager gets thrown in jail, now it's up to Clare and Madame (her ex-mother in law who owns the coffeehouse)to figure out what is really happening. They end up visiting Ri...more
I read this book because I bought it for .25 at a thrift shop. The author, Cleo Coyle, also writes the Haunted Bookshop series under the name of Alice Kimberly. I really love the Haunted Bookshop series so wanted to try this series. I wasn't impressed. I didn't myself liking any of the characters very much.
