I inhale read like 5 volumes this weekend. The Black Moon Arc has been so far my favorite Sailor Moon storyline because how dark it is maybe? I mean the manga as a whole is way darker than the anime ever was.

But as I've been re-reading this I'm finding the whole Darien/Bunny/Rini dynamic odd. Maybe it's because I've since watched shows where a couple's future kid comes back from the future and the dynamic isn't so... spawned from jealousy? I don't know.

*Disclaimer for this series: The nostalgia

I like how Sailor Moon and her Future self met in the end. I have to say I like the Future Sailor Moon! I thought it was hillarious how Rini come back after saying good bye!

This story arc is more complex and interesting than the first.

The Black Moon arc continues, with 3 scouts now missing. In this volume we find out who Rini really is, travel in time, and meet Sailor Pluto. We also get a glimpse at Moon's and Mask's relationship and Moon's insecurities within it.

And bonus! There's an adorable mini story called "Rini's Picture Diary" that helps lighten the mood after the cliffhanger book ending.

Story: Like a fine wine Sailor Moon R gets better with time from it's predecessor Sailor Moon. The Black Moon Arc introduces the same cast of characters are back with new villains to fight. The series arc split in two with the first part having the Doom Tree aliens appear, Ann and Alan. The second part of the series introduces the Black Moon villains. This time there is a little surprise waiting for Serena and Darien, Rini, there are also three new scouts that are found: Neptune, Uranus, and Sat ...more

Histeria massa kali yee
This volume of Sailor Moon was slightly more interesting not only because the second group of villains were defeated but because the Sailor Moon of the present met Sailor Moon of the future who is Neo Queen Serenity. I know that in this manga there are rules for two souls who can't be in the same area for more than too long or one (or both of them) start to disappear.

It would have been nice to see a little bit more of the queen give Sailor Moon advice or words of wisdom because they did meet an

Wow, the story is so different. I still like the drawings, but the story being so different makes me uneasy. It is more mature, more..for adults. I still prefer the anime, even though the manga has some nice scenes. Usagi is more mature in the manga. Everyone is more mature because things happen so much quicker. Mamoru has powers. Kind of ridiculous powers, but anwyay everyone's powers appear out of nowehere. It gives more information about the past, the future and Chibiusa, but also it is more c ...more

Time travel, the introduction of Sailor Pluto, Rini's secret origin revealed, and Sailor Moon captured on the final page for a heckuva cliffhanger. Good stuff.

One of my all-time favorite series. The gateway series to getting me into anime and manga! The artwork impressed me so much, and the story was fun. It is still one of my favorites both because it's well-done, and for nostagia reasons.

This is the version that came out during the middle age of manga: before they stopped flipping the artwork, but right as TokyoPop was starting to emerge, and the volumes got cheaper. Unfortunately you could see it in the quality, as there were a lot of typos and som

A lot happens in here, and there are quite a few significant differences between the anime and the manga. Like many other American Sailormoon fans, I saw the dubbed anime before I read the manga (which had come to America after the anime), and I definitely enjoy the manga more than the anime, even though the anime really expanded on some of the stuff in the manga. A must for any Sailormoon fan!

I know that this manga is far from the best... the story can be cliche in places, and the art is horrible in spots...

But it has a special place in my heart - it was one of my very first introductions to anime and manga, and there's something empowering about Sailor Moon and the sailor scouts. I don't think it matters how old I get... I'll always find my way back to this manga.
