A thorough descriptive musical analysis and (perhaps a little too thorough) history of Turandot's genesis. I would have preferred more on how the opera relates to and interacts with 'the Great Tradition', which is only covered in the first 12 pages of the book and then hardly brought up again. A little misleading considering the title.
