Where do I start? Let's see how about with:

The Good

I liked Cain and Felicity and would like to see more about them. I enjoyed Ben and Allie and even Sindy and am intrigued as to where all this is going. So much so, that I will continue with the series.

The Bad

This book is more like a really long introduction. Not much really happens. It basically is about the characters getting to know each other and about what the vampires can and can't do. There is only one kiss. Plus the book just ends with a...more

I read this book the first time almost six months ago. At the time I thought it was a good book but maybe not to my taste. The writing style was good, the characters well flushed out, the plot interesting. Why not to my taste? I'm ashamed to admit it, but maybe not spicy enough. I put the second book on my to be read list for the future, since I did enjoy the book. A few weeks ago, I bought the second book so thought I better read this one again since it had been so long. What can I say, the sec...more

“Fatal Infatuation” is about Felicity who has just moved to a new city, a new college, and a new job. She’s trying to figure out who she wants to be, and faces the same questions as everyone does. After her first few days on the new job, she’s walking home together with one of her new colleagues, and they’re attacked. Superhumanly strong, the girl who jumps Felicity changes in front of the heroine’s terrified eyes. The attacker is not a person anymore; it’s a being with fangs and red eyes.

The first book of the Almost Human Trilogy starts of the story of Felicity, Cain, Ben and others.

Felicity is a small town girl, transplanted into a "not as small" college town in Upstate New York. On her first day working at the local book store and cafe, Felicity discovers that vampires, truly, do exist. Unfortunately, she discovers this the hard way and not only must deal with the realization, but also try to defend herself from their attacks. By chance, she is saved and almost immediately fi...more

What can I say? Well I was so disappointed after trying to read this first book in the Almost Human 1st Trilogy. I got all hyped up because I was told it was compared to Stephanie Meyers book Twilight but with sex in it. WRONG! There is no sexual action in this first book, matter of fact the only sexual act was kissing and necking along with holding hands and feelings of desire. Was it like Twilight? Absolutely! Actually I would say this was a cross between Twilight and some parts reminded me of...more

Not terrible. A Facebook friend recommended this book, and I get the feeling she had met the author. Or, she's trying to drum up support for an independent writer. I think I understand (from the afterword) that Mrs. Nowak was able to self-publish on kindle. I salute her effort.

Having said that, the book is a little on the Twilight-y side. It's not bad, and certainly Felicity has a great deal more gumption than Bella Swan. Of course, so do most doormats, but I don't wish to be unkind. I believe...more

When I started reading Fatal Infatuation I was really excited to have found another new series. For the most part I did enjoy this book.
Felicity is a freshman in college. This is a fresh start for her. She's hoping to reinvent herself. Become the person she was always too shy to be in high school. She moves into her own dorm room and finds a great job at a local bookstore. She is astonished when she and her co-worker, Ben are attacked by vampires while they're walking home from work one evening....more

As Felicity starts college she is not only dealing with a new town, new job, and new frieds, but also the fact that this town has vampires. She is immediately drawn to Cain, who much to Felicity's dismay, happens to be a vampire. With her new friends, Ben and Alyson, she must navigate college life while trying to stay safe at the same time.

Fatal Infatuation is the first book in the first trilogy of the Almost Human series by Melanie Nowak. I have the next two books in the trilogy that I will be reviewing for you later. I wanted to treat each book in the trilogy separate and I couldn't wait to tell you that I really enjoyed this book. The book takes place on a small college campus in New York. Felicity is the main characters. She's from a small town and hopes to reinvent herself and try new things in this next stage of her life. Sh...more

I don't generally read vampire books; they have never appealed to me. I did read the "Twilight" saga, but at the time it was for a personal project of mine and not out of sheer desire. "Fatal Infatuation" was recommended to me, and I must say, I'm reconsidering the vampire genre. This story follows Felicity, newly graduated from high school and experiencing her first year of college. Turns out, the little college town she now lives in is infested with vampires. But that's not always a bad thing...more

After having read so many favorable comments, I admit I was expecting something else. There was a big lack of developpment of the characters, and the evolution of their relationships was definitely not justified.
Finally, I spent all the 390 pages to wait for SOMETHING to happen, which is to say that I was very disappointed at the end of the first book!
Although the beginnig of the book showed promise (relationships between a YA woman and his older instructor always do!!), the author didn't make...more

This is the first book in the Almost Human trilogy. The story revolves around Felicity (the heroine) and Cain (the hero). It is a very unique story. First of all, each chapter rotates from Felicity’s to Cain’s point of view, but written (thankfully) in third person. There has been an “epidemic” of first person vampire romances going on lately that has gotten very old very quickly. This story starts off pretty slow, but that’s a good thing! You get to know the main and secondary characters very w...more

For all you vampire lovers this is a book for you!
It has all the great elements of a great story, complete with romance, suspense and drama. It seemed to have the right touch of everything for me.
I liked the flow of the author's writing as well. Every page seemed connected and often that is not the case. This book is nicely done.
I am surely to recommend this one to all paranormal junkies, don't be put off by the cover. I wasn't fond of it either, but the cover doesn't make the story.

You simply cannot mix the Bible and vampires. The 2 do not mix and I found myself frustrated and the storyline ridiculous! I think that Twilight is the most wholesome that a vampire can become...this book just took it to the next level and I couldn't take it. I only read the 1st book and I am done. Maybe it improves in the next 2 books but I cannot torture myself like that. Please don't quote Beth Moore, and scripture in a vampire book!

If you like you characters with a little bite - you will love this series. I can't wait for the next installment but no idea when they are coming out. I read all three of these in just a couple of days!

This book has been on my radar since 2009, I read the reviews and they all seemed consistent so I decided to give it a go. Some of the characters were annoying as hell, and that is probably why I will not finish the other two books. Ben is a psycho, Allie is completely clueless and corky, Felicity is brain dead, and that brings us to Cain, UGHHHHHHHHH! Total Puss!! The story read like a big introduction nothing really happened. I also had a problem with the writing style, I did not like how the...more

This book was very entertaining. Interesting characters, not too gory, sugary, or overly sexual.

Really enjoyed this book right from the first page. I love Melanie's writing style as I really felt as if I knew the characters quite well very early on in the book. I had to force myself to put it down and am glad that I purchased all 3 books at once so that I could start reading the second one straight away. Am really looking forward to seeing how things eventuate :)

I can't even believe that I didn't write a review for this series sooner. I love this series. Truly Nowak is a talented writer. Her books flow so nicely and the characters are amazing. I get completely wrapped up in her books and words and the world that she created.
I can't wait to read more from this amazing author!!

This book felt like it was going absolutely nowhere. After reading some reviews, I realized it wasn't and decided to put it down.

This book just wasn't for me. It didn't keep my interest enough that finishing it was a chore. Reading should never be a chore.
