The Magical Express is probably the last grand, epic murder mystery in The Kindaichi Case Files series. After this one all the later mysteries seem lacking in one way or the other. =__=

I have to admit it, I keep expecting to get one of the stories & have it stink. I mean, how can a series keep going & still be entertaining? Many long-running mangas all seem to have the same problem: after a point in time the storyline starts to sag & the characters become one dimensional. Not so for this series!

Subtitled: Kindaichi and Akechi's Pissing Contest: Part 3, only not really because the criminal is so brilliant that they have to work together to trap him.

This was definitely my favorite of the series; it's a shame Tokyopop cancelled it, and then went out of business, because the criminal in this one was set up to be a recurring character and now we'll never get that. Alas.

Yōzaburō Kanari (金成 陽三郎) is a Japanese manga story writer, best known for creating the Kindaichi Case Files series.

He made his debut in 1991 with manga Chōzunō Silver Wolf (illustrated by Masashi Asaki).
