After six months and 218 kisses, Zoe is blindsided when boyfriend Henry tells her he wants out--he wants to focus on his band, he says, and not have a girlfriend right now. Zoe takes the news calmly, but she won't take it lying down. Zoe writes him poems and sneaks them into his locker, his pants pocket (while he's in gym class), even his bedroom window, in her efforts to win him back. Zoe's best friends Julia and Shannon discourage her and tell her she's acting crazy, but she can't help hers...more

Summary: After 6 months of happiness, Zoe’s boyfriend Henry dumps her so he can focus on his band. But Zoe thinks—no, knows—he’s made a huge mistake, and she sets out to win him back.
Review: Jack Tumor was an impulse pick from the library that paid off. This impulse pick, not so much.

This book was about how a girl named Zoe has a relationship with this boy named henry and he ends up leaving her for some reason after about a two years relationship together. Then Zoe at first tried to preserve her pride by saying it was no big deal and by doing that she basically bottled up every thing inside. Then like in almost all love stories and movies she can't handle it and she ends up writing poems for henry every day and putting it in his locker or sneaking into his room to give it to...more

I sort of regret reading this. Instead, I should've add three dollars and bought some paperback book like Clockwork Angel or something. This book was very cheesy. It's about this desperate girl trying to get someone back, when clearly the guy dosen't want her back. It seems like she's obsess with him, which isn't healthy. She tried to got to his house and spy on him or something. It's creepy. She even writes these poems, embarrassing herself infront of everyone. I never thought this is...more
Henry breaks up with Zoë. Zoë decides that she won’t have it because it was her relationship, too, and it is clearly Her Whole Life, and she should have some say in its disintegration. So she decides the best way to woo him back is by climbing up a tree right outside his window and slipping a poem she wrote about him in, giving him a collage she made of their Happier Times in plain sight at school, befriending his new love interest so as to further stalk every aspect of his life, and pestering h...more

"Zoe loves Henry. Henry dumps Zoe. Zoe wants Henry back--at any cost" That says everything!
After the 199th kiss, the relationship between Henry and Zoe ends because Henry only wants to focus on his band but Zoe is not giving up the chance of getting him back without trying. So she tries everything to make him love her again, even risking the friendship with Julia and Shannon... "It's Not You, It's Me" is a short and decent novel about high school romance.

"It's Not You, It's Me" by Kerry C. Hoffmann is a compelling novel about a boy named Henry breaking up with his girlfriend Zoe because he wants to focus on his band more. This is a humorous romance novel about a girl, Zoe, who makes a fool of herself while trying to get her ex-boyfriend back. Zoe cannot accept that Henry no longer wants to be with her. Against her friend’s advice, she engages in a series of events that only make things worse. Her life is consumed with thoughts of Henry and her desperate need to make him want her back, so much so that it affects her school performance. Zoe loves Henry. They've been dating for six months, a time when she has counted his kisses and devoted herself entirely to supporting Henry and his band. Which makes it all the more devastating when Henry breaks up with her. Zoe pretends to be fine with it, but only because she is sure she can win Henry back. Despite warnings from her friends and family, Zoe dives headlong into obsession; she writes Henry poems and creates photo-collages; she sneaks them into his bedroom and his school lock...more
After reading several unfavorable for reviews for It's Not You, It's Me, I was unsure of what to expect. While I was not blown away by this book, I really enjoyed it.
The plot of this book (girl loses boy, girl tries to win boy back) may seem familiar; however, this book is anything but typical. Zoe's plan to make Henry miss her includes multiple hilarious stunts, actions, and outfits. Not only will they make you laugh, but you'll also feel Zoe's embarrassment.

Like many have said the character of Zoe comes off as a nut, basically sabotaging any chance she has of getting her ex-boyfriend back with her antics. Everyone tells her just leave it be, don't do that, don't say that, but she does it anyways without much thought. Even though she comes off as kind of crazy I feel like it depicts a bit of what any normal girlfriend might go through when she breaks up with the boy that really counts and this can be seen sort of as a cautionary tale. It sheds a bit...more
Usually, I do not read books with what seems like a simple plot. I'm not much into little love stories either, but believe me when I say you shouldn't be disappointed. I was impressed by this book with the authors ability to pull me in. I kept reading because I simply couldn't put it down. Teenage angst was pouring from the pages of the book. If you're in the mood for a good laugh and a cute read, pick up this book. Honestly, the cover art is what drew the last straw on buying this book. It's ad...more
Okay, I really thought it was going to be a lot better. Basically, it is geared towards the younger "young readers". The main character, Zoe is totally obscessed with Henry, the guy who dumped her. Three quarters of the book dealt with her constant whining and unrealistic hope of getting back together. She is almost like a young Glenn Close from "Fatal Attraction". You want to scream, "get on with your life"!!! Have to admit, I truly did like the ending but to read ...more
This book is for teens so why did I read it!? Zöe is super boring and annoying. It's about a teenage girl who got her heart broken by a boy named Henry. He wanted to concentrate on his music and she just wanted him back. She got her best friends, Shannon and Julia, to help her with her latest scheme to get him back. The lead character was just too annoying and whinny and I just can't wait to finish the entire book. Definitely will and cannot recommend it to any teens. Yuck!
Let's just say I had high expectations for this book and they were most definitely not met. I went into this book thinking that it would be relatable and that I would enjoy it. I did not. I feel that the idea was GREAT, it just wasn't executed in a good manner.
The biggest issue I had with this book was the main character. Zoe was... an interesting character. She was most of the problem with this book. Most of the book she is just by herself, of course, because she was the person who ...more

Slight but vivid YA about a high school junior who gets dumped by her high school boyfriend. Thanks to loyal best friends (whose good advice she constantly ignores in her efforts to get Henry back), she eventually realizes that she lost herself and her own interests in obsessing over this not very compatible boy, and in turn, that made her less appealing to him. Grade: two and a half stars.

There are some cringe inducing scenes in this book that made me feel intense embarrassment for the main character but they seemed so unreal that I didn't feel much sympathy after awhile. I like the premise of writing about getting over the boyfriend you love when he dumps you but overall the book felt inconsistent in terms of the characters personalities and their actions.
This book is extremely cliche, and even though it has a few comical moments, it's not worth the read.
Zoe's boyfriend of six months breaks up with her, and she decides she;s going to win him back by writing him poems, kissing his best friend, and stalking him. Instead of winning him back, she convinces him that breaking up with her was the best idea he ever had.

"It's not you, It's me" by Kerry Cohen Hoffman was a very exciting book. i started reading this book on 2-26-11, and finished it that same day. i love reading when i find books that interest me so much. especially books i can connect with somewhat. Overall great book and i loved it. i need to find more books like this one!!
Zoe is not very believable to me. She does some crazy stuff that seems too over-the-top. The warning about giving up your own passions to focus in on your beau's, however, is a good one, and recovering yourself after during just that, I suppose, could involve some serious embarrassing episodes.
It was interesting. I saw all of the crazy things Zoe did and face palmed when she did it.Kinda feeling like her best friend outside of the book. I kinda wish I was like Shannon, "THe Guru". Zoe was crazier than I a girl from the book Stalker Girl and she almost went to jail!
