This book comes across in large part as a brown-nosing exercise for author Cooper. However, there are valuable observations about investigative techniques from the 1930s and interesting tales regarding some of the FBI's higher profile cases. In the early chapters of the book can be found the hyperbole typically employed by FBI chief J. Edgar Hoover to improve his image and his budget. There is no bibliography. So we would be justified in assuming that data was spoon-fed to Cooper by Hoover, who ...more
