My mother sent this to me for my birthday, which struck me as a rather surprising choice.
I ended up reading the whole graphic novel in a few hours... and enjoying myself in the process. The cat is a truly fun narrator: he is biased, dishonest, selfish, jealous, yet affectionate, clever and hilarious. The depiction of the Maghreb's Jewish Community of yesteryear was rather perfect, and of course that warmed my heart... my family was like that, just like that, but they are now just about all gone,

Well what a really nice book. First off, I don't know if this just me, but compared to other books on jewish religion and culture/history...this is...well...way less pessimistic. I don't know i just find alot of books with jewish setting like that. That diesn't mean they're not enjoyable. I'm just saying. For example i REALLY LUUUUV maus by arthur spiegleman, it's what i was referring to when i said peasimistic,by the way.

Second of, this a comic. It's kinda unique in that respect because most of

This was quite a fun read. I'm definitely going to check out more of this series.

A very cute book, but serious in its own ways. A few very sad scenes in the middle end, but mostly light hearted.

I read it mostly to help in teaching myself french. I was particularly surprised with how easy it was to read even as a bit of a novice. Excellent for this purpose due to little variation in grammar and lack of "big words." But it doesn't take away from the story at all, which was itself an absolute delight.

My only complaint is that the handwriting made it a bit difficult for me, as

Cette bande dessin ...more

Such a wonderfully clever concoction of histories and philosophies ... With a hearty dose of cat skepticism to keep it moving but with another dose of heartfelt sentiment that keeps it close long after you've finished... Now available in English at Strand Books.

This is a very promising beginning to a series I have heard so much about. I love how the cat gains his voice and how the author questions the religious tenets of Judaism through the cat's journey.

I think who have the socio-cultural references can enjoy this. But graphic was great & worth enough to read anyway.
