"THE KING MUST DIE"
And with these four words so begins J.R Wards 7th instalment of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I couldn't wait to read LOVER AVENGED and at 642 pages Ward does not disappoint. She has encompassed it all; Surprises galore, evolving storylines, several POV's, plot-twists, humour, action, romance and of course heartbreak.

I won't give away too much here, I'll just give you a brief rundown of all the goodies involved in this intricate story. First off, a More...

Excellent, just excellent. JR Ward is back with a vengeance! For anyone who was disappointed with the previous two books in the BDB series, I urge you not to give up on it--“Lover Avenged” is every bit as good a book as the first four of the series. It’s got everything that you could want, starting with an outstanding hero and heroine in nightclub owner/ drug lord Rehvenge and nurse Ehlena. It’s a testimony to the author’s writing skills that she can make a drug lord, mobster pimp into one More...

Lover Avenged is the seventh book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. This series just keeps getting better and better!
Ward proves herself to be an excellent story teller. The series has evolved to a full blooded urban fantasy saga and she mixes the love story in really nicely.
Next to the wonderful romance between Rehvenge and Ehlena, we also get reunited with Wrath and Beth, which was a great treat.

Besides that: Xhex becomes a little less of a mystery, Lash a lot mo More...

Damn, the BDB series just keeps getting better and better. I really liked Ehlena and Rehv in this book. They are absolutely perfect for one another. I also loved that we got to see a bit more of Wrath and Beth. And of course, Xhex and John, although it is quite sad what happens to them in the book.

The plot again is crazy! There are so many twists and turns that I swear my head would fall off. The writing is incredible. Ward makes me so envious! I seriously cannot wait to find out wh More...

I don't even know where to begin with this review. Like so many of Ward's other books, this book consumed my thoughts. Even when I wasn't reading it, I was pondering the interactions between the characters, hoping for the best, and dreading the worst that I felt was coming.

I don't know how the WARDen does it, but my love for this series and her writing grows even more all-consuming with each book. I do know that she understands the power of evoking emotions in the reader. I can' More...

5+ stars – Vampire Romance

WOW...just...WOW! J. R. Ward is back with a vengeance (no pun intended).

I had every intention of being monetarily responsible and waiting for the paperback release, but I figured it would be like when I got behind on the TV show LOST and had to dodge all the water cooler and break room conversations every Thursday by covering my ears and singing la-la-la while getting my morning coffee in an attempt to avoid unwanted spoilers, which ultimately p More...

Lover Avenged was a great entry into the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. The writing was very good this time: the narrative flowed well, the romance was there and the storyline was furthered. The entire story packs a serious emotional punch, you will root for and cry with all of your favorite characters.

I don't really review these books because it's too hard for me. I think everyone takes something different from the books in this series but for me I love the stories. I love finding More...

What I can tell you- straight to the point- is that I enjoyed Lover Avenged more than then my last outing in the BDB (Lover Enshrined). And too, for those who are still hoping the author keeps up with writing Paranormal Romance rather than Urban Fantasy, they won't be disappointed with Lover Avenged.

Lover Avenged, Book 7 in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, brings us Rehvenge's story. Rehv is not a member of the Brotherhood but a member of the Glymeria, the Vampiric version of The More...

I laughed. I cried. I loved. I died. This is definitely going on my list of all time favorite books. Definitely on the list of my favorites in this series. It was the perfect mix of storylines. The right amount of action and romance, joy and sorrow, love and loss. All of the Brothers are up front and center....like earlier in the series. Rehv and Ehlena are flawed but perfect for each other but don't have an easy time of it. So that makes their story strong and beautiful. It ends perf More...

Karen read this book, too! Only hers had pictures! I'm so jealous. That would have helped this book immensely.

Still, I'm sure that this was exactly what JR Ward was picturing when she got Wrath the fucking guide dog:

guy in sunglasses with puppy

The only good thing I have to say about this poorly plotted, cardboard cut out action figure soap opera in which we learn a valuable lesson about living with handicaps and loving each other through it all, is that Rhev's mohawk is not the same colo More...

Alright y'all, I won't pussy foot around it - I was disappointed with this book. As I mentioned in my Goodreads discussion I think a lot of it had to do with my expectations. With Lover Enshrined I went in not expecting much based on a lot of blogger reviews; most people said it was their least favorite in the series. Because I started it with such low expectations, I actually ended up liking it a lot more than I had anticipated.

With Lover Avenged I went in expecting more, somet More...

Another great narration by Jim Frangione.

Merged review:

Another amazing book in the series. I was already a big fan of Rehv, so had high hopes for his book, and Ward didn't disappoint. She created a wonderful mate for him in Ehlena and finally gave us some insight into the world of the symphaths. Much like LeN though, there was a lot else going on. Key story line developments with J.M., Tohr, Xhex and Wrath as well. In fact everyone makes an appearance and plays a part More...

Rhevenge is a complicated man who is very loyal to those he loves. Being a half-breed, a club owner, a drug dealer, and Bella's brother he is torn between what he wants to be and what he is. I hate the way he is treated by the sympaths, but there is so much going on that you don't dwell much on the b**** princess. Blay admits his feelings for Quinn, even though he knows already and is on the fence about his own. Ehlena has just the right amount of compassion and fireball in her that Rhev needs. More...

I liked this one better than the last, though not due to the heroine, that's for certain.

Characters:

Rehv.
I admit, at first I didn't like him, but by the end of this book, I really, really liked him. He'll never be one of my fave characters, but I like him quite a lot. He claims not to care for anyone, when this is obviously not the case. He puts those he cares for before him always, and never spares a thought for himself. Despite being a drug lord and a pimp, I sti More...

I wasn't expecting to be as enamored with this book as i was. the last one didn't quite do it for me. Ward made Rehv incredibly endearing. it takes some talent to make you see more than the surface of his character. The main plot was a really well constructed web on this one. a lot of things tangled together to make the story. i liked that we got to see more of wrath and beth. that side of the story was just as well presented as the main line. i am pretty impressed with this one and from More...

Oh Rehv. Dear sweet lord, Rehvenge was by far in my opinion the sexiest MALE in the series when it came to being smooth like honey and a fierce bad-ass. CHRIST, to take a bite out of that…*ahem* I digress…

What to say except that I loved this book from beginning to end. Although not a Brother, Rehvenge Son of Rempoon (love saying that REMPOONREMPOON) is half vampire, half sympath which makes for a lethal combination of good and evil in the world created by J.R.Ward. Rhev is a smooth More...

I devoured this book in 2 days. Every chance I had I was reading. This book shows us Rhev, the bad boy that, as we get to know, becomes the perfect kind of bad. As you read this book there is no resisting Rhev and his struggles of being a half-sympath. The only problem I had with this book is the same as many others. We did not get to see enough of Rhevenge and Ehlena's romance. The mix in of the other brother's was a great addition to me because after Dark Lover, we did not see much more of Wra More...

What can I say about these amazing books that hasn't been said already? This one was great! To me, it was a perfect combination of the more romantic nature of the first three books and the more plot heavy adventure of books 5 and 6.

I know that a lot of people don't like Rhev as a character, but I was really looking forward to hearing his story since we were first introduced to him. And man did this book put him through the ringer! I knew deep down that he would have an HEA b More...

3.5 stars. Ward's cracktastic storytelling fell apart for me a bit in this book. The narrative tone felt cheesy and adolescent, with the incessant Brand name droppings and written equivalents of eye-rolling, and it really bothered me that everyone's internal voice sounded the same. Being less caught up in the story made it harder to tolerate the high level of violence and grossness. And the hero... well, drug dealing and murder are kind of hard to excuse, and I didn't feel that issue was satisfa More...

I enjoyed this one far more than the last two I read (Revealed & Unbound, I skipped Phury's book), but not enough that I'm permanenty dragged back into this series.

Ehlena is easily one of my favorite heroine's out of this series. She's just as normal and kind and compassionate as either Beth or Bella. She's had to deal with some hard luck: losing her family's wealth, caring for a mentally ill father. And it's just made her a better, stronger person, even though it makes her feel iso More...

Aaahhh...Rehvenge is my newest love from the BDB series:) His story is now my favorite along with Zsadist's story. I fell for this bad-ass, drug lord so hard! I also truly felt as tho he and Ehlena were a great match! I liked her alot as well, which I can't say about all of the females in this series before they are mated to the Brothers. Most of the females were just "okay" with me...until they become the Brothers' shellan. Then the become strong characters which I respect. Ehlena how More...

Kinda a slow start. She is encompassing way too many plots. I just wish she would stick with one perspective or two. Not eight. Damn I hate mini plots. Ward you left the old characters taken care of and happy. Why are you screwing them up again? So frustrating.

OK I am half way done with the book and at the first love scene and I'm thinking. "blah, blah blah" So I quit. I'm officially done with Ward books. Her writing is jumbled, bumbled, in-cohesive, and without a stron More...
