I just finished reading this book. It is really interesting if you are interested in Dali. It is basically about a reporter (Carlton Lake) who works his way up into Dali's 'inner circle' and just spends massive amounts of time with him and writes about it. It's good and there are a lot of funny/interesting stories about Dali.

for work book club; gave insight into dali and his posse, but didn't like the writing style (essentially long transcribed dialogues that lake had with dali). glad, ultimately, that i finished it, because it tied up some loose ends, but a bit boring. wouldn't recommend.

This outrageous book captures the elusive Dali at his fiercest, most fragile, paranoid and bombastic best.

A Gioccometti Portrait, by James Lord, is another great artist biography, but much slimmer.
