I'm a fan of paranormal romance, erotica, science fiction, fantasy, and mystery. So once I jumped into "Relentless" by Lauren Dane, I simply could not stop reading. The plot and characters of her latest Berkley release combine bits of each of these genres into something totally different and definitely entertaining.

In some ways this is almost a Romeo and Juliet kind of story starring Roman and Abigail--two people who shouldn't be together, yet can't stay apart. The story is set in an interesting

Oh my. This was such a good book! I have read several other Lauren Dane books. One I just really didn't like, and two others that I thought were pretty good. This one, though, was the best of hers I've read yet.

The book takes place on a planet far from Earth in a far distant future. The first settlers on the planet Ravena who came from Earth are now known as members of the First Families. Within these families lie all the power of the known universes. They are the wealthiest, they make all the l

Lauren Dane is an excellent writer, I liked how her words just flowed and the story moved on so easily. It's a story set in a far away future where the space have been settled. It takes place in the city of Ravena, where a barrister named Abby is fighting for what she believes in. Then she meet Roman Lyons, the most powerful man in her 'verse. There is passion at once, passion that can not be.

I was not a fan of the feudal society they lived in, the families ruled everything and the people had no

Hmmm - while this one didn't cause the 'blush' factor that Undercover did, it's still up there as one of the steamier reads I've ever read! But as I read along, I almost tried detaching the steam from the storyline and the story works very well just on it's own. I think the author deserves kudos for not sacrificing one for the other.

Abbie Haws is an amazing heroine. She is everything a reader wants in her heroine. Abbie is smart, she knows what she wants and goes after it. There isn't a single T

Lauren Dane is making quite a name for herself in the sci-fi romance world. Her first release, Undercover is an enjoyable and inventive space tale dealing with a nice, steamy ménage a trio. Now with Relentless, Lauren has gone back to the basics of romance with a love story between a man and woman who are on opposite sides due to their social standing and life goals that have been set for them.

Relentless is about the Federated Universe where the fifteen founding families rule. (This setting is a

I’m not usually a fan of futuristic books of any genre, but Lauren Dane has won me over with her sexy love story. I was willing to enter her ‘Verse because she sucked me in right away, with the feisty lawyer Abbie Haws going up against the mega-powerful Roman Lyons. He seems arrogant and entitled, but underneath lurks a man looking for love, and when they finally get together, sparks fly. They have to keep their relationship a secret because he is not only Ranked, but ultra-powerful, while she i ...more

I really liked this book and a big part of it is due to Abbie. I liked that she was a spit fire, that she bucked the system, but did it in the appropriate way. You couldn't help but to root for her. I also liked how up front and honest both her and Roman were about their relationship. They went into things with their eyes wide open, knowing that they were from 2 different classes and could never be together in a way that they wanted to, that both of them thought that "for now" would be good enou ...more

I liked this one better than the first book, it has a little more story and a little less angst. Still relationship driven plot. There's very little overlap between the two books so order doesn't particularly matter here...

Abigail "Abbie" Haws is the spokesperson for the Movement for Representative Democracy (MRD). She’s a crusader against the injustice of a class-ruled society/world and works as a senior barrister for the Society for the Defense of the Accused (SDA). In her pursuit of justice she’s fierce and ruthless. Abbie is vivid, tenacious, resilient and smart. Her back-story is a hard and emotional one that made me admire her even more for her resilience and strength.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The majority of my reading is done for pleasure and fun, so it's obvious this book isn't a life-changing, deep thoughts kind of book. It was a book though, that kept me completely entertained and turning pages quickly so I could see what happened next. If a book does that for me, then on my scale, it gets 4 or 5 stars. With this book, I actually had a day off from work, no other committments & the kids off at school, so I read it over the course of a day.

I recently started another book by Lauren Dane and, though I liked it alright, I couldn't get into it. It was taking too long to really get started. I shelved it to try again later, but I wasn't yet ready to give up on the author. So, this book has been on my to-read shelf for a while and I figured now was the time to give it a shot. And I'm so very, very glad I did.

The story is surprisingly touching for how raunchy it is. It's... past the point of erotica and downright pornographic. Numerous ti

I loved Undercover so was very excited to read this. I was not disappointed.
The backcover for this book had a good summary so I do not have anything to add to it. Abbie and Roman fall in love but are separated by class, how will they span the gap to be together.
Very hot scenes and very poignant scenes in a tough situation, I cried at one point. Great storyline and great characters.

The Federated Universe is run by the Founding Families, 15 in all. For those lucky to be born into these families, life is good as a Ranked citizen. Unlucky, well then you are unranked and not represented in this universe. Abby Haws is fighting to change this having grown up as an unranked citizen. She has done well for herself after tragic events could have ended her life. Abbie Haws has been battling a system that has seen fifteen Families ruling the Federation Universes since the time the first settlers came through the portals from Earth. This is the perfect time to get rid of the old way of ruling and introducing a new order that would give voice to those that are unranked. Now Abbie has been granted an audience with Roman Lyons so she has a chance to make a difference.

I just gobbled this book up. Am not quite sure how to verbalize how I feel about it but I'll give it my best shot.

This is Sci-Fi, romance, erotica. It's trying for so many things, and succeeds on many levels. Dane's adeptness at world building, writing believable character interaction, and smoking sex scenes made me frustrated with what were some simple mistakes that I think could have been easily fixed. There's a handful of times when she shows rather than tells, using characters to say someth

This is only the second book by Ms. Dane that I have read. The first one was Undercover which I completely enjoyed (sorry, no review). Both books take place in the same futuristic world and while there are characters from Undercover that make appearances in Relentless they are each complete stories within themselves. The world building begins in Undercover but Ms. Dane does an excellent job of filling in any previous events. So while I would recommend reading Undercover prior to reading Relentle ...more

I was a little worried when I started this because it is book 2 in the series and I haven't read book 1. I hate not reading in order, but my library only had book 2 and other reviewers said that they didn't need to be read in order to understand them. I agree. The futuristic world Ms. Dane has created is not complicated. And, for those readers who don't like sci-fi/futuristic books, this is hardly that. If you have read any of J.D. Robb's "In Death" series...well, this is less futuristic than th ...more

I enjoyed the characters and the story. I got lost in the dialog while on my smartphone. My edition could have used a better editor and better formatting which was distracting and affected readability. The document on smartphone had no punctuation between compound sentences, no indenting or spacing between paragraphs, and spelling errors/new word creation, i.e., "comming". My tablet didn't experience the same formatting issues. I'm sure I'd love the audio book version even more.

Relentless fit its name to T, the characters feelings for each other were flame hot, deeply sensual and lovingly honest. The story is that of any star-crossed lovers who cant be together but still they try until they are split apart but in this case the end was no tragedy to live on in our hearts. I loved Abby se was spunky, mouthy, and intelligent. She went through many rough patches growing up and an especially heinous act ws done to her. Oh how this series hurts to read! The book is futuristic but they have such an outdated class system. I couldn't imagine not being with someone I loved because of my rank. The choice of mistress would be insulting! How awful would that be? Anyway, like the first book, the story is actually interesting but I really liked this couple. You could feel the yearning between them, the wish for things to be different. The sex scenes weren't as severe I guess as the first book, but made up for it with s

This was the first book I've read by Lauren Dane as is the first futuristic romance I've read, and I have to say I was NOT disappointed! I absolutely adored Abbie's fiery nature, respected her stance & how she loved fearlessly. Roman Lyons was a lion in my opinion! Their scenes together were dynamite, and the story well developed. I loved reading about the alternate universe and getting down the lingo, it was cool. I've got to backtrack and read the first book, Undercover and I have already ...more

This is a fast-paced, gripping novel that had me racing to the end. I may still prefer contemporary romances over other types, but with a story this hot, Dane's Universe became mine as I rooted for these two hot-headed, passionate, strong lovers. I look forward to reading more of her work, that is written this way and recommend this to anyone who wants a steamy romantic read chock full of hot scenes but with a core of respect, attraction, and heartfelt emotion to go with the lust.

Set the blankety blank future on other worlds as earth is almost uninhabitable Abbie is an attorney/activist and Roman is the leader of all off world planets. They meet to discuss her grievances, he accidentally triggers a flash back and they end up getting to know each other and falling in love. The problem is, he's almost like royalty and cannot marry the lower classes which is Abbie as it's against current law. Very good book. I enjoyed it and recommended it.
