Fantastic book! Not a dry historical piece at all. As the title says, the book is a 'narrative,' so it has a much more personal touch, and is spiced up by Footes very unique writing style and vocabulary. I can't think of an edition of a book that I have enjoyed reading more. The text is excellent enough on its own, but the pictures and maps in this edition make it a real joy.
