Hunting elephants Book Review. Alan Yu 9K
Hunting elephants is a unique novel about the problems that a teenage boy, Harry, encounters after losing his younger brother. The main themes that are noticeable throughout this intriguing story were, guilt, his relationship with parents, trust issues, heroes and having courage as this book tackles the aftermath of losing a sibling.

While the pace of this book may not suit those upper primary/lower secondary kids who want to read 'on the edge of their seat' stories, this book has much to offer those who with a more contemplative side. Roy explores great themes such as guns, heroes, courage and outsiders in thoughtful, honest ways.

Roy was a total inspiration. Although this book is classified as 'teenage fiction', I believe that it's a worthy read for people of all ages. Hunting elephants was a unique and clever story, reflecting on many little things we struggle in everyday lives. Family tensions, friendships and self esteem. What more could I say? A great read.
