This is not a studious anthology of album cover art nor a complete history; it is a sample of the album covers in the author's extensive collection. He has included covers that caught his eye and that he deemed unique and memorable for their time.

As such the selection is just right for browsing and, set out in decades, 1950s to 1980s/90s, it is ideal to run through and see the musical trends of the periods.

Raw rock and roll to begin with, through sixties pop, punk and into the 80s and 90s when,
I picked this up in a great little used book store in Echo Park called Stories. Got it as a gift for a librarian friend who was groovin' on seeing Manhattan Transfer perform this week at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Couldn't help reading it before wrapping it up. It's a nice little collection, by no means comprehensive--the author tells us this in the prelude--which reflects the passion and personal tastes of rock archivist Michael Ochs.
