This compendium of clothing advertisements brings back the most prevalent looks from the Swinging Sixties. The ubiquitous miniskirt is here in all its glory, along with mod fashions, Gidget/Beach Boys surfer looks, Correges space age clothing and such iconic items as the Rudi Gernreich topless bathing suit and Yves Saint-Laurent's Mondrian dress.

WORN Fashion Journal
This nearly pocket-sized mini-book doesn’t hold the appeal of extensive text or impressive knowledge to share, but it sure offers up some amazing photographs and quirky advertising that’s almost guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

A member of the Taschen Icon series, the hot pink paperback is miniature version of the much pricier coffee-table edition. Not much writing sits between the front and back cover, only a short prologue by Laura Schooling of that outlines the era and delv
Worth picking up just for that wonderful hat ad aimed to the modern, yet pragmatic 60's man : "Although wearing a hat is no longer an absolute requirement for men, studies show that an employer won't be so keen on hiring a hatless man.Do the right thing!" Another beautiful ad is the one for colored foundations; face make-up with a hint of green, blue or yellow, that the fashionable lady picks according to the clothes she wears that day."Now you can wear green clothes and still look beautiful!"
I'd much prefer to get the huge large format version of the Icon series, which is way prettier and comprehensive, but this is a great overview of the whackiness that was the swinging sixties in terms of fashion and perceived notions of feminine beauty. ;)
Great book for vintage design elements and style inspiration. Fans of Mad Men will definitely appreciate.
