The difficulties of growing up in Texas during the late 1920s and 1930s was explored in believable scenes from the early oil drilling experiences in both east and west Texas. I enjoyed the character development and the description of the oilfield life. Some I remembered from my dad's stories of his growing up in the oilfields in the Borger area.
