Recommends it for: readers who enjoy historical fiction about the 1920s and 1930s in Texas
Recommended to Marilyn by: Mary Hunter
The difficulties of growing up in Texas during the late 1920s and 1930s was explored in believable scenes from the early oil drilling experiences in both east and west Texas. I enjoyed the character development and the description of the oilfield life. Some I remembered from my dad's stories of his growing up in the oilfields in the Borger area.

I loved this book. Even though it's fiction it gives you an excellent perspective on life in early oil field days. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down.
