Toad Rage (Toad #1)
Limpy’s family reckons humans don’t hate cane toads, but Limpy knows otherwise. He’s spotted the signs: the cross looks, the unkind comments, the way they squash cane toads with their cars. Limpy is desperate to save his species from ending up as pancakes. Somehow he must make humans see how fabulous cane toads really are. Risking everything, he sets off on a wart-tingling...more

A wonderful story about a cane toad named Limpy, and his adventure as he tries to save his entire species.
Toad Rage by Morris Gleitzman

This has been the first book by Morris Gleitzman I have ever read. It has also been the last. For your own sake, don’t waste your time reading this disgraceful work of literature. Morris Gleitzman has more books in this series and if I were you I would make sure not to even read the back cover. You might be in danger of falling fast asleep if you do.
The story takes place on the American island of Hawaii. ...more

Its kind of a book for younger people, but I liked as well.
Toad Rage was all about a cane frog called Limpy who goes on a crazy adventure to find out why humans hate cane toads. The book was insanely funny and I loved it. The best thing I loved about this book is how things were set on a animal’s view of things. The only thing that I wanted to improve is to make the story longer! This book was the funniest book I have read for a long time. I liked the part of the story when Limpy finds other amimals that were rejected as mascots. I would definetly read ...more
Cute, interesting story.
Sometimes I felt it drifted out of a toad perspective though, sometimes Limpy knew things about the human world, like what socks and toothpaste were for, and sometimes he had to learn it from ads thrown out of windows, and sometimes he didn't know at all. All of this while not understanding human language (and yet understood every other species' language.)
I'm glad I read it before I left it on an exchange rack though.

this book was assigned in my daughter's school's book club for 3rd/4th level children & family. the book was laugh out-loud funny, and could be a powerful metaphor for larger social dilemmas: I was reminded of the conversations about inclusion/exclusion of indigenous peoples in Australia when the Olympic Games were there; something i imagine Morris Gleitzman must've been thinking about.
Although legions of Limpy’s relatives have been killed by humans, Limpy needs to find a way to make humans appreciate the finer qualities of cane toads. His search to save his species leads him to save a pole vaulter from disgrace but it does not in any way alter the truth of the matter.
oNe of the funniest children's books I have ever read. One of my daughters and I read this together a few years ago and we were both laughing out loud. I would recommend this to everyone! It is a great story, and I heard there is two more in the series but have not read them.
Limpy sets out on a quest to change the public's perception of toads by becoming a "Games" mascot in this funny story by Australian uathor Gleitzman. My tweens enjoyed it, and the themes can relate to humans as well.
Yes, I really liked this quirky little book about a cane toad in Australia who is on a self-imposed mission to find out why and stop humans from hating and trying to kill cane toads. Limpy's adventures are dark and funny at the same time. Please, let the cane toads live! Don't squash them on the highway.

So incredibly hilarious! I really think young reluctant boy readers would get a kick out of this. I laughed the entire way through and just had a great time with this book.
Morris Gleitzman shows a hilarious personality through his 'Writer's Voice' in this book. I fondly remember reading it to my fifth grade class in 2005... my first year teaching.
This novel follows Limpy, a cane toad who is tired of being squashed by cars and who sets off on a journey to liberate oppressed cane toads everywhere. I have found that boys in particular like this novel, as Morris Gleitzman adds a bit of gross imagery to a fast moving plot and a very humorous series of events. Most of all, I like the character of Limpy, as he tries to get humans to accept cane toads by coming up with a very unique and intriguing plan.
funny, funny, funny! My kids really love Goliath the 'bash the human' cane toad in this book! I will never see the toads with the same eye anymore!
Really funny in that edgy/gross kind of way that fourth grade boys and I enjoy immensely, and Gleitzman makes a good audiobook narrator.
I didn't read this, but my teacher did back years and years ago when I was a little girl about 8? I thought it was really odd....
If you read my rating for Toad Heaven, then it goes for this too, both books are GREAT! If you like 1 you'll like the other.
STACK ME this is a funny book! I read this with my six year old son, we loved it and are now reading the second book.
A bit odd. My husband liked it more than I did. It was fun learning more about Australia...and cane toads.

Toad Rage was a good book, but it seemed like it was meant for boys of a little younger age.
And that is exactly who I would recommend it to.
My favorite character was Limpy's cousin, Goliath. He always made me smile because his goal in life was to get back at humans by poking their tire with a stick. He was funny because of the way he acted.
My favorite scene was where they are practicing for the animal games. The animal games are like the Olympics but for animals. I ...more

Read for Battle of the Books. Cute book. Set in Austraila. Not something I would of picked on my own.
This one was just a lot of fun. Not sure if I'd call this a children's book.
Limpy is so funny, stacking his dead rellies in his room.
