This is a decent book about the trials and hysteria, for what it is (which is a field guide). There is no information about the author in the book, but he is obviously a scholar of some sort, since the writing is quite good and his research seems thorough.

The only reason I deduct a star is because his own feelings towards the people and event are too plainly evident. He really despises those who supported the accusers. The last book I read on this subject was Chadwick Hansen's, and I was really

Another October read. After reading the Physick Book of Deliverance Dane I had an inkling to follow up by researching the Salem witch trails. The library of FDU with its old volumes was just the place to do it. This guide by David Brown is a blow by blow account of the happenings. This book serves nicely as a compact field guide to the Essex County witch trials of 1692/93. The author states in the preface that it is written as a tour guide. It is broken up into four sections: a compact, well written history, a useful chronology of important events, a guide to important locations and finally maps of showing those locations in Danvers, Salem and Beverly.

Very same story as Visionary Girls but a little more boring. Helpful if you want to visit sites and the photos are interesting.
