Joyce Lamb's CAUGHT IN THE ACT follows the formula that worked in FOUND WANTING. Jessie Rhoades had run away from her past. Living under an assumed name she has a new life until an accident (or is it?) brings the events from an earlier time to a head.
She is saved by Clay Christopher when her car lands in his front yard. Soon, issues unfold that bring the two closer together. Each has been married before with dark moments haunting them. Jessie has a few too many TSTL moments while in denial that...more

Do you like really obnoxious, cartoony villains? The kind that sneer at the heroine all through the book, and then go all psycho at the end and get hauled away drooling and babbling?
Do you like nice guy heroes? The kind who keep giving out free foot rubs and running into the kitchen to make the heroine something to eat? The kind who "really wants to punch" all the bad people being mean to the heroine, but is always five minutes late to the fistfight?

I really enjoyed this book. It was fast pace and engaging. The story is plausible and I love hot guys in love with hot girls. I could not give it 5 though. A couple of things bothered me. I was ok with Jessie being the stubborn news reporter the first time someone tried to kill her. I was somewhat ok after the second but after a while it became annoying. The story to this book spanned a total of 12-14 days and someone tried to kill her every 4 to 5 days.
Also, I enjoy reading about people falling...more

Jessie is the editor at a newspaper that has just broken a huge story about the corrupt police force when scary things start to happen. The first one being her getting in a car accident due to her brake lines being cut, only to be rescued by Clay Christopher. Clay is a free lance reporter who gets called up and asked to investigate the same story as Jessie. They like each other but she isnt sure how much is him just trying to get the story. Violence keeps occuring and things just arent lining up...more

Jessie Rhoades moved to Florida to start a new, simple life. But things get very complicated when the newspaper where she is an editor publishes a huge story that turns out to be a hoax.
On top of that, freelance reporter Clay Christopher is snooping around her professional and personal lives.
When two of the bogus story’s main sources turn up dead, everything is on the line — hearts, lives and careers — as Jessie and Clay race to uncover the truth before anyone else dies, including them.

Nice newspaper romantic suspense. It's true as another reviewer noted that Jessie never ever seems to realize how much danger she is in, but I did see that she was in a position job wise where she thought she needed to push forward no matter what. I actually liked both her and Clay just fine but didn't find the plot all that exciting somehow
I am so glad Joyce Lamb decided to release her earlier works in e-book. This is the second one I've read lately and throughly enjoyed. And for .99 on Amazon - what a steal!
