We've enjoyed reading a lot of the books written by Ruth Heller - the lyrically rhyming narrative and bright, colorful illustrations are certainly appealing and the educational content is often helpful for parents and children (I got a few good reminders of some of the more obscure grammatical rules.) At times I feel there is a disparity between the advanced level of the grammar being presented and the target audience of the book, but on the whole, we really enjoy these books.

The World of Language Series would be great to pull out with students in upper elementary. The pictures in the books are bright/bold/eye-catching and the text when you really think about it is outstanding. I think I learned something new or was reminded of something as I read through them. I think the adjectives book is my favorite but this is a close 2nd.

The pictures are fantastic and are used in such a way as to really demonstrate Interjections and conjunctions. I would definitely use this in the classroom.

Ok, I was a Elementary Education major, with a reading/language arts emphasis, and *I* didn't understand these parts of speech nearly as well then as I do now after reading this book. Recommended to all writers, teachers and students, and fans of language. And fans of very cool pictures. I just love all her educational picture books as visual feasts, and most of them as really good at clarifying concepts we think we know but find we have more to learn about....
