Basically a manhunt for Oliver Stone/John Carr
character from his last book and action galore.

I thought that Baldacci had ended the Camel Cdlub series and was delighted to see he hadn't.

This is the aftermath of Oliver killing the the two men who'd ruined his life and killed his wife and daughter, as well as Camel Club Milton Farbe, who is mourned and missed.

He's decided to go on the run so his Camel Club friends aren't implicated in any wrong doing. He flees south on a train, hoping to make it to New Orleans, where he hopes to lose himself in the chaos of a rebui...more

Divine Justice is the fourth book in the Camel Club series. This story follows Oliver Stone, aka John Carr on a breathtaking ride to Divine, Virginia. Stone, a former hit man for the government is on the run after taking out two very high profile figures. He lands in Divine, Virginia a little by accident thinking that the small, quiet town will be a great place to hide out for a while. However, he gets pulled into a much larger situation that threatens his life as much as the feds that are after...more

It's rare in the publishing world that a writer's first manuscript would end up in a bidding war.
But that's exactly what best-selling author David Baldacci was faced with when he sent out his manuscript for his novel Absolute Power. Not only did his first book become a best-seller, but it was made into a movie starring Clint Eastwood.

"I never thought it would happen to me," David Baldacci said from...more

John Carr otherwise known as Oliver Stone and the rest of the Camel Club are back in David Baldacci’s latest book Divine Justice.

John is on the run after his recent assassinations have pissed off some people, particularly Macklin Hayes with the CIA. Now John is American’s most wanted man. John makes his way to the small town of Divine, Virginia. A town where the biggest attractions are its mine and Dead Rock State prison. John figures no one will find him in Divine. To John’s...more

Baldacci is back on track with an Oliver Stone novel that reads like his pre-Camel Club novels.
Here we find Stone emerging from the water, having just successfully assassinated Carter Gray and Senator Simpson.

Tired and on the run, Stone leaves his Camel Club buddies behind and ends up in a remote mountain town that’s anything but a peaceful hiding place.

Unsolved murders, unexplained nighttime activities and a new love interest keep Stone busy while Agent Joe Knox,...more

I recieved this as one of the Goodreads giveaways and realized it is part of a series. I hope I can get into the story without first reading the others.

The basis of the story (which I gather I missed in the previous books)is that Oliver Stone/John Carr is an ex-CIA assasin whose wife and daughter are killed. The last person you would want to anger in this way is a trained killer. So in this book you get the unique perspective from the mind of the kill...more

I really like David Baldacci's style of writing, however, this was my first book in his series about the Camel Club. The book details the trials of Oliver Stone?John Carr, a former government hit man, set on exacting justice for his murdered wife and daughter. The action is fast-paced and furious. Despite the wish of Stone/Carr to keep his devoted friends from the Camel Club out of what just might be his final act of vengeance he discovers that it is easier said than done. This was a passion...more

This is the fourth book in the Camel Club series and reunites the people from the earlier books, with the exception of those who were killed in these books. Dealing with their grief and events from the third book is continued into this best seller. Oliver Stone the main character is on the run again and has told his close friends to cut all ties with him for their own safety. The tight spots that he finds himself in just keep happening as he gains additional friends and new enemies. The read...more

This book begins at the end of the last book when former US-sanctioned assassin. "Oliver Stone", takes out two important political figures, then takes a header off a cliff to disappear into the stormy sea. He then tries to blend into the remote mining town of Divine, VA. But too many shenanigans are already in progress there, & Oliver just has this innate sense of justice that won't let him ignore when bad things happen to good people. It was hard for me to get into it at first, until I realized I was mainly mad at the main character's decision. But once I got past that and continued on in the story I couldn't put it down until I finished it. So I would totally recommend this book and am so pleased with the outcome of the book and this series of The Camel Club. I would love it if they made it into a movie, but am also hesitant in that they would probably change some stuff and I wouldn't like that, to me David Baldacci got it r...more

The Camel Club is back in action after the revenge killing of a couple of bad guys. Oliver Stone is on the run and his friends from the 'club' want to help. Also on his trail are the feds, and they don't necessarily want him alive to stand trial. Oliver ends up in a rural Virginia town of Divine. Seems to be more prosperous than it's coal mining/maximum security prison employment would allow for. Who will find Oliver first? Will the evil ones get what's coming? It kept me reading in the m...more

I seem to have a talent for jumping in to the middle of a series....That being said, this was a great read. Some parts are rather unbelievable and the number of "coincidences" are astounding, but it was fun to see it all peiced together as he goes through is investigation. There were points where I literally sat in my car (having gotten home), so I could hear how the chapter ended or what happened to a character. It's been a while since I've done that. If you're looking for a fun, summ...more

I absolutely love the Camel Club series and this one packs just as much suspense and excitement as the previous 3. If it has been a while since you read Stone Cold, go back and re-read it before picking this one up. Divine Justice picks up minutes after Stone Cold ends. It had been about 6 months since I read Stone Cold and it took me a few chapters to remember what had happened in Stone Cold.
But I actually enjoyed Divine Justice so much I listened to it a 2nd time before returning it...more

Divine Justice is the latest in Baldacci's Camel Club series (and possibly the last). Many subplots of the previous books are resolved in this one. I would not read this book until you have read the earlier ones in the series. Baldacci's books will never be mistaken for great literature but I find them to be enjoyable, fairly quick reads even though some of the situations may be a bit exaggerated such as the super-max prison and its warden but they make for a good story. This book moves right al...more
