I read this book, funnily enough, in China. It definitely provided some entertainment and the story, at first, is fairly engaging. however, and its a big however, midway thru the story it gets to the point where all of a sudden the lead male is described as having weird slit eyes. Suddenly Oh No! We then discover, after reading about him for half the book, that he is half Chinese! As if no other English characters in the book, would have detected that, by looking at him at first sight. I lau

This book was reccommened to me by a friend. Who knew that I liked Christian Historical fiction and books with amazing actions.
Pros:
The characters are interesting. The book was fairly well written and let's face it there were a couple of scenes in there that just made me smile.
Cons:
To put it blankly the romance in the book is sensational and goes into furthur detail than I was comfortable with especially in a Christian book. Please realize that I More...

When I saw this book at a yard sale last summer, the captivating picture of a sword-wielding lady on the cover, coupled with the knowledge that the book is a romance by an evangelical Christian author, convinced me that this read would be right up my wife's alley. I wasn't wrong; she was initially skeptical of the historical setting (being more into modern settings), but once she got into it, she "couldn't put it down." She in turn recommended it to me; and obviously my reaction was

The cover got extremely excited, and the premise made me even more excited. I got quite a ways in before I gave up hoping it would start getting awesome. It led me on for quite some time, but I finally had to admit that it was just a pink-sticker book (e.g. useless Christian romance), and sort of aped Jane Austen's writing style without accomplishing it by any means. The end was also highly unsatisfying.
It might have got away with it a little better if it were marketed as a YA fluff book.

I enjoyed this for the information about the machinations of the East India Tea company and the British Empire. I don't think the British would have gotten where they did in the Victorian era without the Opium trade.

All the Tea in China proved to be a very interesting and engaging book. It was very fun to learn about China along with detirmined Isabella and Phineas. Though in some parts I was kind of confused, it overall was a very good read and I enjoyed it most thoroughly. Defiently recommend it, a most sweet, adventurous romance.

Just OK. It was a fun read, but it some of the plot seemed unlikely. Not unlikely as in magical, but characters seemed to act in ways that didn't correspond to human nature.

Although I didn't think the author knew about sword fighting I enjoyed this book. I liked the strong welled characters, and the conflict that can bring.

When I first started reading this book, my impression was: "oh bother, so this is going to be one of those books." I found the heroine flighty and silly and annoyingly conscious of other people's fashion.
Midway through the book my opinion was: "Well, it has its cons, but it also has its pros. It is not at all the predictable read I thought it was going to be. I can't figure out what is going to happen next."
Towards the end, especially the parts in Chi More...

Christian romance/Adventure story. Not the usual kind of romance one would think about. Lots of deception, hardship, but a funny little tale.

Intriguing. I like to read about all the cultural differences. I felt like the end was a little abrupt and could've been developed better.

This one was decent, though there wasn't a whole lot of character depth (I should really lower my expectations). The part of the book on the ship was really the most interesting.

This is definitely not one of my favorites but I have to admit it was better than I thought it would be. The story moves really quickly and takes turns that I didn't always see coming. But one sticking point is the description of the love intrest character. It made me imagine him to be a cross of the two Mr. Collins in the movie versions of Pride and Prejudice (BBC and theatrical). That didn't make him that exciting or endearing to me. And a year later that's really all I remember.

This was one of those books that took a day or two for me to get into, and then it got really good, but the ending was pretty lame, in my opinion. Sometimes it seems that authors spend all their time at the beginning of the book and then the ending is just kind of "tacked on". This was one of those kinds of books.

Orcutt shows some talent but she lays on the Jane Austin a little too heavily. Improbably shipboard actions, especially how our protagonist got shipboard. Would have to try a contemporary work before I could judge either way.
On the other hand, the tale itself is well thought out and engaging.

This book was fantastic! I could not put it down. There was never a dull moment. I really loved reading it and would read it again in a heartbeat! It was an amazing twist on a Christian romance... it was like a Christian book form of Pirates of the Caribbean.

This is a fairly enjoyable and different historical romance. It was really the first time where I found spiritual inspriraton in a romance... I mean, the book does concern a wannabe missionary...

I really enjoyed this. Unusual, in today's market, to find an historical novel about Christian missionaries to China. At least, this is the first I've read in a while. Well done and interesting.

This book attracted my attention because of the cover, title
and publishing house. This story is inspirational, historical fiction with some adventure taking place on
a ship to China.

not a lot of swordplay like i expected. the beginning was good, but towards the end things just wrapped up to neatly, like she was trying to hurry and finish.

This book is a lot different than expected. It's an easy read, but I didn't find it very interesting. On the upside, it is very clean.

Not your average Christian romance. Tooks turns that I wasn't expecting and I'm not sure I liked. Don't think I'd read it again.

I love this one. It's a romance, but an unexpected one. But it's also an adventure. Yeah, read this a couple times too.

A great, easy read!It is so entertaining to read how Isabella's life changes when she meets Phineas Snowe.

The author obviously did some research, but I simply did not find the story or characters convincing.
