I read this book for the first time in 1990/91 when I was about 10 years old. I had just moved to a new school for the second time in 6 months and was slow to make friends. The one girl that had befriended me in class suggested this to me, and while I had never read anything of this genre, I was eager to solidify the friendship.

I LOVED IT!

Since the first time I read through this book I was hooked on books that got my heart racing. I left behind all of my "Sleepover More...

In this book, Stacy McAdams, just woke up from a 4 year coma. She was shot in the thigh by her mother's murderer and she can't remember his face, and she doesn't believe that the 17-year-old girl's body that she is in is hers, she believes that she is still a 13-year-old girl whose mother is still alive.

This one reporter, Brandi Mayer tries to figure out the whole scoop on Stacy and her mother's murderer. She tries everything to get the murderer's name and description out of Stacy but More...

I'm not into thrillers. I have to admit. Maybe it's just that I haven't read many in my life. I was sure surprised by this one. I felt a bit weary about even reading this at first. But then...I got hooked like a fish. It's something about the writing that just flows nicely and the story is well-paced. The characters developed well, some better than others. I could really relate to stacy. She seemed real. Her thoughts and anger towards the killer were all very realistic. I felt that there were a More...

No one should have to go through what Stacy McAdams went through. Her life was turned upside when she was shot and went into a coma when she was 13. When she woke up she was 17 and her family had changed so much without her. Her sister was married and pregnant, her dad had many jobs to keep up with the hospital bills, and her mom was murdered. The person who killed Stacy’s mom is the same person who put her into a coma. Stacy was the only witness and must now find the murderer before the murder More...

This used to be one of my favorite books from middle school/high school, so I decided to spend an afternoon rereading it to see if it was as wonderful as I thought it was.

There were definitely aspects I liked, and the plot itself is interesting, but I found the book to be incredibly brief when it could have been drawn out more (but that could come from the fact that I'm now used to longer books). I also found the end to be rather abrupt, which was upsetting since I longed to know what More...

Stacy was once a 13 year old girl living her life until someone shoots her and she ends up in a coma for four years. When she wakes up in her 17 year old body, she doesn't recognize herself or anything else. When she was shot, her mother was also shot too. Murdered. Well now Stacy, who is now 17, is an eyewitness to her mother's murder. But remembering what happened that day c More...

In this book Stacey, 13 years old is shot and goes into a four year coma. She wakes up at 17 and flustered. That very day that she was shot something else terrible happened, and it was done by the same person that shot Stacey. This whole book is about Stacey figuring out who she is, maturing into her 17 year old self, and trying to figure out the shooter, and catching him/her, making sure he/she is locked up or killed.

I could never remember the name of this book until I did some research on goodreads. "The other side of dark" never left my mind even after all these years. I had to read this book back in JR High and am I glad the teacher made us read it.

Definitely a page-turner, despite plot-holes big enough to drive a fleet of trucks through. Stacy has been in a coma for 4 years after a shooting, and now wakes up, finds herself in a 17-year-old body, and discovers that she is the sole witness to her mother's murder (which she can't quite remember). The killer is out there, and coming closer...... Well, you know. Fairly predictable in the end, really. The last line is eye-roll-worthy (and makes the adult-me want to retch *AND* call Child P More...

Stacey wakes up in a hospital room to find out that she has been in a coma for 4 yrs. She is in the body of a 17 yrs. old, but still feels like she is 13. The last thing she remembers is when a stranger burst from her home and shot her. She learns that her mother has been killed, and she is the only person who can identify her shooter.

Stacy wakes up in a hospital in a body she doesn't recognize. She finds out her mom has been murdered, and Stacy is recovering from a gunshot wound. However, Stacy only has a blury memory of what the killer looks like. Will she find him and put him behind bars before he reaches her?

Wow. I loved the book, but the ending sucked. The only reason I took of a star was because the ending sucked. Oh, well, that's just life. However, I loved everything else. She really hated the guy who killed her mom. She was seriously going to kill him until someone (*wink wink*) finally comes in to save the day. The only thing that didn't suck about the ending, was when the killer escapes and automatically ends up in the backyard, and it's basically déjà vu for Stacy, but other than the More...

This book was not as good as I thought it would be. There was no suspense at all, the characters were boring, and there were no twists whatsoever. I have to give Joan Lowery Nixon credit for having a good idea and setting up the plot well, but the middle and ending were terrible. Stacey wakes up one day in a hospital bed and finds that she has been in a coma for 4 years ever since the day she and her mother were shot. Stacey claims that she knows who her mother's murderer is, but can't put a More...

Stacy wakes up froma four-year coma after being shot. Her mother has also been shot and is dead. Stacy remembers that fateful day like it was yesterday, and she is ready to testify against her mother's murderer. The only problem? She can't remember the killers painfully familiar face. All Stacy know is he is out there looking for her. And he will do anything for his identity to be kept secret. Will he reach Stacy before she remembers?

I am about 1/3 into listening to this book and am fascinated by how bad it is. If I were reading it, this would be one I simply could not finish, but the reader does a good job despite the content.

A girl wakes up from a 4 year coma and tries to remember who shot her. OK, that could be a fine plot for a teen novel. However, the way characters respond to her make no sense. Her best friend from age 13 seems surprised that coma girl knows nothing about makeup, even though it seems as t More...

I read this book when I was in junior high and completely and totally flipped over it. Wildly and blindly adored it. (Emphasis on the blindly.) I made everyone read it. (Sorry, mom. Really.) So when it popped up on a mystery bib at work, I had to check it out, of course.

Well. It's definitely scary. And it's absolutely fast paced. Too fast paced. You don't even get a page to take a breath and contemplate all of the danger Stacy is in and everything she needs to work through. I think e More...

Okay first of all loved the plot line. It was sad it involved death and it kept the heart racing throughout. Stacey to me was a perfect representation of a 13-year old in a 17-year old's body. I mean how does one catch up on four years. Its not an easy task. However Stacey made it work. She was able to grow up and catch her mothers murderer and she did all this while falling in love. Beautiful ending by the way. Whenever I tell people they always go "Ahhhh"

this book is really good even tho i hav only read barely half of it but it is about this gurl who i scoming out of her coma 4 years after the incident. She was 13 at the time and now she is 17 so her body has changed alot and is harder for her to do stuff and she has lost alot of her memory. She is also trying to figure out who did this to her and all she remembers is that it is a guy and she knows him from somewhere but cant remeber the important details.

This was nothing spectacular, but it was a nice read. It's a mystery novel, although there didn't seem to be a whole lot of mystery. Or maybe I just caught on awfully quick to what was going on, but I kept thinking there'd be more of a twist. When we got to the twist, it was not something overly shocking. Overall, it was a good book with decent characters. I think maybe it could have been written better, but I still enjoyed it.

After waking from a four year comma, 17 year old Stacey must not only come to terms with being a teenager and not a child anymore but also, as the only witness, remember who it was who killed her mother and put her into the hospital. It's possible that a 10 or 11 year old might enjoy The Other Side of Dark more than I did, it was an OK story if you like mystery, but I felt it was dated (which can't be helped since it was written in '87) and a little bit flat.

Ayden's class was reading this in school and she really uneasy about where it was going and wanted me to read it. I'm not sure why the teacher liked this book. There was nothing special about it. In fact, it was easily forgotten. It's about a 13 year girl who is shot and stays in a coma for 4 years. She awakens older, her mom was killed and she needs to remember who the shooter was. I thought it was kind of blah.

The reason why I love this book is because I love how this author wrote these murders and such. Her books are great, and her legacy will live on by fans. One of them is me. (duh) read this book. It's great, and just read her books. But really, this one is kinda unique becuase, it's about a coma, a crazy guy, and about never waking up. Just read it, please.

This book is totally trashy, and totally fun. I found it again after many years on the bookshelves in my classroom library and read through it in about two hours.

This book was a great middle-school age read. The main character's confusion over her suddenly adult body was a good lesson for me when I was maturing.

I can't judge this book too harshly, because it works for what it is, which is a cheesy guilty pleasure that will feel really sophisticated for the teenagers towards whom it is written. There are a few descriptive passages that sound the wrong note, and the last sentence makes me cringe, but for its genre it does pretty well.

This is a book full of mystery and romance. If you like books about crime and mystery, I really reccomend this book to you. The main character and her mom gets shot by somebody and tragically, her mom dies but the main character was a very lucky girl so she lived. But when she gets shot, she faints and doesn't wake up for 4 years. During the 4 years, alot of things happen and occur. But she didn't know what those things were until she discovered them....
