I respect the fact that Harold did what he had to do to take good care of his grandmother. I would have done the same because I love my grandma dearly. Drug dealing is illegal but i certainly dont knock it because you're making money. Finding aswell as maintaining a job isnt always easy so if you decide to sale drugs I agree with your decision.

1) I like this book because it shows how a kid handels his money problems by working for a drug dealer(which isn't good). For example when Harrold found out that his sick grandmother had to pay a lot of hospital bills, he desided to get a job.Instead of countinuing his job at WholeFoods, he did the wrong thing and took a job from a drug dealer. This was kind of ackward to me because to pay some of your hospital bills you work for a drug dealer. At leatst think about the things that you are doing be...more
I think that the book is a good story. It tells you how life is on the streets and how quick it could take you . The kid in the story isn't really bad but he needed cash fast to help out his grandmother which he lives with. She had gotten sick and needed medical attention she got surgerys and then later a bill was sent to them harold had saw one of them and opened it he was shocked about how much it was . His grandma struggled for keeping the house and taking care of harold so she had very littl...more

This was a really good book. It showed how people’s lives are in the real world. How this story can happen to anyone. One thing that I learned is that you need to be careful of who you trust and hang out with. Harold didn’t do a good job of that. He knew that when he went to 25th street that trouble was going to start and that once he got there, there was no turning back. This book also made me think about how you should love your family while you’re alive and that when ever there is a problem b...more
Why I picked it up: I’m doing a Bluford book group with some middle school students and read several in the series so I would be familiar with them and could pick one title for us to focus on.

I thought this book "No Way Out" by Peggy Kern was too interesting. I liked the book very much because it tells about what goes on exactly in the world today and it makes you realize that anything you may be going through does not necessarily mean your going to fail, only if you allow it. It was interesting to me also because it is a book that tells about life, and what happened in the book, could actually happen in real life and does happen in real life. I like reading books that I can relate t...more

Londell James (a local drug dealer) lends him so money to buy the supplies. Harold gets mixed up with Londell and sells drugs for him to make some extra money on the side. This book was about a 9th grade boy named Harold that has to worry not only about school but also about the lack of money and his injured grandmother. In order to help out he gets a part time job in a grocery store but that does little to help with the bills. He thinks that trusting londell was the right thing to do because he needed the money. He thought that selling drugs and working for londell was the right thing to do but he didn't realize that not everybody could be trusted. I liked this b...more

This book is about a boy that has a problem with a man that is a big bully to him. He has to watch his back because his grandma is sick and the bully know where he lives. He did his best not to get into it with him. It seems that he just cant stay away from trouble.
I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! This has so much drama in it , its just ridiculous. most of the time inside this book people would bully him and make fun of him because of his weight. But i can relate to his problem.

Good addition to the Bluford series! Harold is in high school and worrying about his sick grandmother and the mounting bills. His part-time job at a grocery store does little to help with the money situation, so it is very tempting to fall in with Londell, the local drug dealer, who is quick to give Harold an easy $50 here and there to deliver his drugs. Harold soon regrets his decision to work for Londell, but he finds there is no way out.
A book in the Bluford High series. Harold is a high school freshman who lives with his grandmother. When she gets sick and they have medical bills to pay, things get tight financially – more than they already were. Then a social worker threatens to put Harold in a foster home. He is desperate and starts working for a local drug dealer. The violence and uncertainty frighten him, but he doesn't know where to go or what to do now.

So he asked a the gang for a favor, and they told him that they would let him sell drugs to the gang's buyer. He only did this because he get 50 dollars from every buyer for his profit. I would feel the same way if I was him because if I was broke there is no way to do it unless you want to be a hobo and live on the streets. He also had no other choice becaus...more

She fell and got hurt and they have all theese big bills they have to pay and soon with not alot of money. He finds an envilope with his name on it but it's adressed to his grandma. Befor he got to sneak a look his granma tolled him to bring it to her because she didn't wan't him to worry about the bills.
I read No way out by Peggy Kern. Which tells the story of londell and his struggles in the ghetto. I think the title is just what the books about the feeling of not being able to get out of a bad situation. the feeling of hopelessness, like londell will always stay in the bad environment of the ghetto. I recommend this book to everybody especially those who are in similar situation like londell.

This was a book, that I don't think I was ready to read. I was just starting to learn about about drugs, and when I read this book, I realized that sometimes kids do actually end up in the situation that Harold is in. I think that the situation in the book was also a situation that other kids could end up in. Overall, however, I think this was a great book for teen readers.
well i'm telling you when you start reading no way out, well it will make you think and think.well character in this book are real, these problem that goes on in the book are real. And it happening to people for real now.But when you read the ending you will want to read more, but also you will have hope like horld the main character.
