America's finest living photographer!
Here's an amazing MUST SEE video of Zoe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqkJ9m...

Frank Sherlock and I are VERY PROUD to have a Zoe photo from this very book of photographs as the cover of our collaborative book, THE CITY REAL & IMAGINED: http://cityrealandimagined.blogspot.com/

Zoe's images have amazed me for the 5 years that I've known her and her work. The closest thing you'll get to her annual full-on I-95 shows down in South Philly, this book is her in a pill. The first 8 years of her shooting with a camera, it's all in there. Her images are shocking, poetic, provocative and always thoughtful. I cherish my signed copy.

I happened to see Zoe Strauss's exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and was knocked on my ass. There is a real sweetness in these photographs that lingers long after the initial starkness fades. Zoe's photographs are honest and without pity and she finds a regal beauty in her subjects that is just so awesome, I love her for it.

Unpleasant. Fucking brutal, if you really want to know the truth. I saw the exhibition for Robert Frank's The Americans and then looked at this book in the SF MOMA bookstore and was blown away. Need to sit down with it a few more times to discern whether it merits a 5 star rating.
