At first the book was another roving Caribbean novel about self-discovery that I find myself getting into a lot lately... then it takes a dark turn and never recovers... How that seemingly normal and intelligent and ambitous young man ends up where he did on the account of family relations or lack there-of is beyond my grasp.... I really don't like the way the book ends. I was happy to read the fun recollections of the young man in the early part of the book but the later part was much to dreary ...more
