Covey did a great job with this little book that is wonderful for kids (and wouldn't hurt several adults I know). The illustrations are great and the characters he's chosen to "tell" his stories all have special traits so that no child should be left out. My favorite was Jumper and the Lost Butterfly Net as I think listening is a lost skill. The Parents' Corner will aid those who are otherwise unable or too busy to find ways to change their child's behavior and this will get them on More...

What a great book for kids. Both my son (5) and my daughter (3) love the stories and the characters in this book. There are seven stories, each one with tons of beautiful and detailed illustraions, focusing on a different "habit". The first one was about boredom, and the story about how Sammy the Squirrel finds a way to fight being bored. He goes all over town looking for a friend to help him beat his boredom, but each one is already engaged in something. When he gets to the last fr More...

I knew of the adult version of these principles, The Seven Habits of Highly Successful People, but it always sounded like pop psychology to me, so I never bothered to read it. Then a therapist recommended the kids' version for my sons, so I got hold of it, and I was so impressed, I'm putting the adult version on my to-read list.

The children's book and has seven animal characters. One's athletic, one loves to read, one plays music, one's a little girl who likes to play dress-up, etc More...

I must say I was initially skeptical about seeing the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" transitioned into a children's book. While I enjoy the 7 Habits and the principles and concepts taught in that book, I wasn't sure how well it would translate into something that young kids could grasp onto. I was pleasantly surprised.

I read the book with my kids and they all really enjoyed it and have asked me to read various chapters to them again and again.

The book i More...

When I saw this book, I had to laugh.....another product trying to cash in on the success of the original (7 Habits of Highly Effective People). Except that I LOVE the original. So I bought it, expecting mediocre stories but an opportunity to discuss the 7 habits with my children.

To my surprise, the stories themselves are actually decent. On their own, I'd give them 3 stars. To rate the potential this book has to teach, though, I'd give it 5 stars. Each habit has a story that illu More...

These book teaches the 7 habits in a short story format that kids can understand. The first habit is "Be Proactive." The story for this habit is about a boy that is bored and learns it is his responsibility to find something to do. I love that my kids can understand principles that will last a lifetime in such an easy format. After each story there are questions to review with your kids to make sure they got the point of each story. The book makes it effortless to teach kids impor More...

This book is AMAZING!!
It is a great book because not only is it fun and enjoyable to read, but it also teaches some great lessons! I really liked the comments from the author at the end of each story on how the value in each story is related to something that has happened in his life. In every story, the children of 7 Oaks keep having fun anventures that teaches then great lessons.

I started to read this through right after bringing it home from the library. I didn't think I would like it because it was too didactic. My kids did though. They like the characters and stories. AND, I've already been able to use some of the things we learned in practical situations. The other day my daughter came up to me at the library and said she'd like to check out a book on tape since she's bored at home sometimes. I got to compliment her on taking charge for herself (the first pri More...

This book was a stretch for me. It teaches kids valuable lessons about friendship, happiness and more, but I prefer my kids learning these lessons through examples in classic stories. I don't think kids would fall in love with the characters in this book and I don't think they would remember the lessons taught

Great book to illustrate the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. It is intended for a much younger audience, but I will use it as a supplement when I teacht the 7 Habits to my middle school students. I think parents/teachers need to be familiar with those 7 Habits for this book to be most effective.

J's elementary school has some kind of grant program to instill these habits into the kids. She's picking up on them a lot more quickly than I am. Tomorrow night, the school is hosting a parent night to teach us about the 7 Habits and how to reinforce them at home. Wish me luck.

This is a kids' version of 7 Habits. I liked it pretty well. I liked the discussion questions after each chapter/story. I did not like the pictures very well, and some of the characters' attitudes weren't so great (sticking out their tongue at each other, etc).

LOVED this book. The kids really liked the stories and they each taught some good life skills. I also liked the page at the end of each story for parents/teachers. Gives discussion questions and ideas to work on that skill. We need more childrens books like these!

Great book to read to your child or if they are able to read to themselves read it!! We use this book in our Elementary School and all they kids strive to practice the 7 Habbits. It is the basis of everything we do in our school and has made a huge difference.

I haven't read many character-building books to the kids, thinking they were getting enough of that stuff from life in general. But they were very interested in this book. We read one story (habit) a night. Don't know if it made much of a difference, but maybe . . .

After reading more stories I've decided I really like this collection, could be a great way to teach life skills to young children. I think this could help in a classroom or home setting putting all the ideas together to help kids achieve their goals.

Apart from making the 7 Habits fun for kids, this book increased my understanding of the Habits. I love the playfulness and the simplicity of the book. It brings out my inner Peter Pan.

Super cute little book. It's got seven short stories with lots of illistrations showing how kids can overcome their everyday problems by using the Seven Habits as their tools. We read one story a week out loud as a family. Would recommend for kids ages 4-10.
