Power. Pleasure. Danger. It doesn't get any hotter than this.

3.5/4 stars. This book turned a corner for me overall in the ACRO series, but I have to say that I think the ending fell flat for me, and that led to the 3.5/4 star rating rather than a 4/4.5 star rating.

I had a difficult time warming up to Rik in the beginning of this book. For one, I really disliked her calling Trance "boy", but that is due solely to personal reasons. Additionally, I had a hard time at first picturing her as a sexy, enticing woman, because as she was d
5 stars – Paranormal Romance/Erotica

The ACRO series by Sydney Croft, which is an alias for the powerhouse author team of Larissa Ione and Stephanie Tyler, is a truly inventive, intensely thrilling, and deeply erotic paranormal romance series. The ACRO, Agency for Covert Rare Operatives, series centers on superheroes/heroines with paranormal abilities/powers battling it out with uber-villains to save the world, while having lots of steamy hot sex in the process. ACRO agents use their enhanced abi

At the beginning of this book I liked Trance a lot. The glimpses we get into his mind and his feelings made me feel for him from page 1. However, when we started to throw Rik into the mix, I didn't like her at all at the start. Their relationship eventually develops, and I went through ups and downs between liking them and not liking them. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that some of their sex scenes were just not for me. Maybe it's just that I didn't like Rik 100%. I did

I simply, did not see that coming~

But, it goes to show these writers are not afraid to step out of the box. And give use a sweet knew twist...and a kink.

I liked it a lot!

But, I'll be the first to say, that I'm not a call me daddy,, sir or boy, book lover at all...but, this was good.

I also like the animal factor, it was a nice change and a great add to the Xmen factor.

And, these two were freaking adorable.

Gab was fun, I love his persona, I wanted more....and Dev, I always wa

I loved this one and book 2 the most. This series is so different from everything else I have been reading, it's very intense. I really got into this book.

What I love about this series, which I usually don't, is the fact that each book tells more than one love story, so we see many romances developing at the same time. I mean, they all happen at the same time. I really enjoy to see so many different point of views because we get to know many character very well.

The fourth book in the ACRO series and as the others Taming the Fire had three stories running.

The main story involved Trance, an excedo (super strength and speed) with a touch of hypnotic abilities and Ulrika (Rik) who was a shape shifter. Rik's family and clan were captured by Itor and after years of experimentation, she was the only surviving member. Itor turned her (in werewolf form) into an assassin. Rik was on the run from Itor when this book begins and ACRO has sent Trance to bring her i

Ulrika is a tortured wild thing on the run. She's been turned from a peaceful loving person to a ravaging beast. The only way she can control the beast is to let her anger come out through punishing males in a BDSM club.

Stop. Yes, she's a dominatrix with an axe to grind with human males. What is it that we say in BDSM? Don't do it angry. Women into Femdom because they want revenge on males...F.U.C.K.I.N.G bad idea. But this is a fictional story so this is the way it goes. Not to say this doesn't
It has been a very long time since I've picked up a book and have read it cover to cover in one day. Taming the Fire was pretty fantastic. A solid 4.5 stars. Not once did I get bored and wonder when the story would pick up. Loved every minute of it!!! Three complete storylines, all characters pulling at my heartstrings from the beginning. I think the authors have done a great job of starting to close out the series. Which is hard to say since each book has better and better and I don't want to e ...more

The story between Trance and Rik was very interesting and how it evolved. The particular parts of the BDSM was...interesting and weird ~ esp when u have no idea about that kind of stuff!!

i really enjoyed the back story of Dev and Gabe and couldve used more of that! The letter in the car made me cry!

The third couple (which i wont name so i wont spoil anything) was good. I was glad to read about them but as with all these books, I would've liked to read more.
I read this whole ACRO series in 2010. They were all exceptional, five-star reads. If you like FM Paranormal, don't miss this series.
This was my favorite of the series... the series so far anyway! What delicious tension amongst the couples!! Whew!!

I think Trance/Rik are my favorite main couple characters but I'm not 100% sure why?!? I certainly can't relate... especially with the boundage stuff (wowza!) but I think it's the overwhelming vulernability of those two that made them so appealing!

I continue to love the secondary characters/couples and was cheering for Ryan/Meg to whole way through!

Book 4 in the ACRO series and the authors' are maintaining the intensity. This one has two primary plots. In the first, Trance, an excedo with super strength and the ability to hypnotize with a look, has been sent to bring in Ulrika [Rik:] who is an escaped ITOR operative. Rik is a victim - her family destroyed by ITOR as they experimented with them - only she survives and has been mutated into a shapeshifter. ITOR controls her with a collar she has been unable to remove [it contains a bomb amon ...more

Trance is on a mission to hunt down a beast. But this beast resides inside a woman, a woman who has him falling for her hard. But what will she think of him once she realizes he’s betrayed her to the very people she’s been running from for years?

After the last book in this series, I was a bit hesitant to read this. The first two books I loved, but the last book didn’t really do it for me. This one was good, but different from the first three in th

This one is about three love stories, like the other books. First there's Rik and Trance. She's a shapeshifter that been used and abused by an evil agency. He's sent to bring her in to the good side. I liked the story, but not as much as the others. Trance was a dick and made me cry. The next love story is Dev and Gabriel. When Oz died he told Dev to watch out for a man who would need him and he would need Gabriel. Dev fights his feeling - which is fine because he really loved Oz - but it takes ...more

The writing is excellent, the dialogue is great, and you are sucked into this world of ACRO and spy agents with super powers of all kinds. I wasn't into the BDSM parts, as that's not my thing, but I am invested in the series and want to see it through and learn about all the characters, especially Devlin.

I really enjoyed Trance and Rik as characters. The scenes were smokin hot with them in it. Albeit a bit much for me.

I never knew you could do that with a metal instrument and a penis *shudders*
Taming the Fire is about ACRO agent Trance and his mission to bring back a former agent of ACRO's opposing agency. Ulrika “Rik” Jaegar is the last of her kind and is on the run after escaping from her captors. Unfortunately she still has the collar used to control her on her neck and lives in fear of feeling a familiar jolt of terror. Trance's mission is to capture her and bring her to ACRO to put her abilities to use. But Trance soon realizes that this mission will be something more.

Wow. I am worn out. Do any of these ACRO books NOT take you through every emotion you possess within your soul? I had read a few reviews of this book and saw that several people did not like this book as much as the others in the series. However, I have to say that I did. I loved the main story, and the side stories of the other couples were so sweet and heartwarming. But the main characters, Trance and Rik? OMG!!! I cried so hard. They tore me apart. Too many turn offs in this book for me to truly enjoy it.

Mistress Rik reminded me of Nurse Diesel from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". Calling Trance 'boy' and walking around in her whips and chains and German accent. Nope, couldn't do it.

Ryan the resurrected superspy and Meg the virginal, Amish computer geek super-thief. Nope, couldn't do it. (Aside from the fact that as a couple they become 'Meg Ryan', which is infinitely worse than the 'Bennifer' phenomenon.)

Dev and Gabriel. Nope, not tha

OMG...I love you guys for reccomending this series....I am addicted...
I do not want to do spoilers....But Ryan is found and ohhhh so glad....Trance is sent on a mission...We just met him briefly last book. To bring in Ulrika/aka Rik This is one sizzling romantic story....I have never really delved into Bondage and SM and if this would bother you....this is warning....I as a grammy learned more than I ever cared to but it was not repulsive....LOl

The way these characters are inter twined I love it

They say there can be a whole lot of pleasure in a little bit of pain. Taming the Fire, the 4th installment of he ACRO series, confirms as much. Meet Trance, former Army MP, now ACRO agent. Trance, an excedosapien, possesses extraordinary strength and the ability to hypnotise. As Maroon 5 would say, "look into his eyes and he'll own you.." Trance isn't new the underground BDSM scene, though for this mission, he must step out of his comfort zone. Trance must pose as

The price of becoming a submissive weighs heavy on Trance's psyche, but through it all Trance and Rik find a true connecti ...more

Another interesting read in this series. I read this book in pretty much one sitting, and when I was finished I wondered why I waited so long to read it. For fans of this series, this one was just as good as the previous books, and I enjoyed all the new characters and catching up with some old favourites.
It took me a bit to get 'into' the main couple but after a few pages I was hooked..again, what is it with these books? there just awesome! love the Gabe/Dev storyline and my girl Annika finally getting in touch with her feelings..Yay!
Loved it! Another great read, from this fantastic series.
"Taming the Fire" by Sydney Croft. (aka: Larissa Ione and Stephanie Tyler) Book 4 in the ACRO series.

I am loving this series! It's like a paranormal soap opera! This book focuses on the main characters of Trance and Ulrika (Rik) but it also has two subplots about Dev (the head of ACRO) and Gabriel, and Ryan and Meg (Coco). Each story, in itself, is excellently written and each flows into the other very nicely. Characters from the previous books pop up now and then and it's really nice to see the
The fourth book in the ACRO series revolves around Trace. We’ve met Trace briefly before in previous novels. His dominating presence makes him the perfect alpha male, and definitely elevates his status as a very luscious Dom. His newest orders….track down the elusive Ulrika and bring her back to ACRO as their latest acquisition. Ulrika is a shifter, but ACRO isn’t the only company after her. Itor, ACROs competition and enemy, has fitted Rik with a collar that normally can control her. If in clos ...more

Tortured and abused by the diabolical Itor agency, Ulrika Jaeger is now on the run together with her internal beast, which she can only control using sex. Trance is the ACRO agent sent to capture and control her but he soon finds himself awakening long buried desires and emotions that will change both his and Rik’s lives forever.

My Amazon review:

Taming the Fire follows the previous Storm trilogy (Riding the Storm, Unleashing the Storm, Seduced by the Storm) telling us the adventures within a secret paranormal government agency, called ACRO, comprised of members with special abilities (think X-Men). These agents fight crime around the globe, ridding the world of mysterious supernatural evil we don't even know exists, usually at the hands of nefarious rival agency Itor. The latest installment features Ulrika, a werewolf s

“A couple of hours after Rik left, Trance was still on the floor of the basement dungeon, staring at the mess around him.
He looked up to find Wyatt at the bottom of the stairs, staring at him. Wyatt gave a long whistle as he looked around the room and then again at Trance. “Orgy gone wild?”
Trance groaned. “Is there a fucking sign on my door that says ‘Bother Me Now’?”
“Wow,” Ryan said, taking the excedo in from his bare feet to his worn jeans and wrinkled T-shirt. “Protesting showers?”
“Bite me.” Trance stood aside and let Ryan inside, despite his growled words.
Ryan strode to the living room, went straight to Trance's DVD player, and inserted one of his sex discs.
Trance stood in the entrance to the living room, arms crossed, leaning against the wall as if it were the only thing holding him up. “I don't remember making a movie date with you.”
“Keep your dick in your pants, Romeo.” Ryan pushed Play and stood back. “What do you know about that?”
Trance's eyes shot wide, and he yanked himself off the wall. “I know you need an ass-kicking if you came to watch porn with me—oh, fuck me, that's you. Turn it off! I don't need to see that.”
Ryan hit the Pause button. “Well?”
“Well, what?” Trance shuddered. “Christ. I'm going to have to gouge out my eyes now.”
