Stir, Laugh, Repeat by Martha A. Cheves is an old-fashioned cookbook, full of recipes like your mother used to make; the recipes are practical, easy and made with everyday ingredients. This is not a book filled with overly fancy, posh recipes that will break the budget; this Martha writes for the ordinary, everyday cook.
The book has a simple layout, easy to understand instructions and is filled with appetizing recipes; the author’s culinary art is a lovely hodgepodge of sweets, dinners, veggie d

Martha Cheves has a cookbook that I recently purchased.
I do a lot of cooking and consequently, I read a lot of cookbooks. All of them have many complicated recipes calling for a lot for ingredients. I always assumed that was the way of the cook. Until I got a copy of Martha Cheves' cook book Stir, Laugh, Repeat.
This cookbook specializes in simple recipes that should find favor with working couples who haven't the time or energy to cook complicated recipes. Martha's recipes call for pre-packaged

What a delightful cookbook this is! Martha A Cheves provides the reader with so many wonderful recipes without swamping the average cook with a host of whisks, double boilers, strainers, mixing bowls, thermometers, pastry brushes and icing bags. These are simple, tasty recipes for family, friends and for parties.

However, I truly fell in love with all of the little tips and stories added to these marvelous dishes. Who wouldn’t appreciate all of this great advice? Personable, funny, and heart warm

Stir, Laugh & Repeat

Like many noncooks, I have a distinct yearning for the taste of yester-year. Martha has compiled a cookery book of recipes that appeal to our palette as well as our memories. I hate recipes where I have to know what is what and where to find it and which wine to s

I never though I’d write a review of a cookery book. Ask any of my family—I’m not exactly an expert in the kitchen. Though, of course, they should take at least some of the blame. It’s hard to produce expert meals when you have so many conflicting requirements. Over Christmas there was me (no gluten), spouse (likes the texture of “real”—i.e. wheat-based—cooking), mother (no fresh fruit, under-cooked veg or spice), son #1 (nothing boring), son #2 (vegetarian, no nuts), son #3 (meat and two veg), ...more

COOKING WITH THE OTHER MARTHA!

I grew up with "from scratch" cooking. Both my grandmother and my mother spent hours in the kitchen to produce their meals the only way they knew how--from scratch. This, of course, is how they've taught us children to cook. But don't we all have better things to do than spend hours in the kitchen kneading, waiting for the dough to rise, cutting the shortening into the flour until it looks like little peas? I know I do. I've published one novel and am currently work

Stir, Laugh, Repeat
By Martha A. Cheves

“Stir, Laugh, Repeat” by Martha A. Cheves is not only a great cookbook, it is a fun read. The first day I received the book, I perused it to find a recipe to sample. In reading, I found these recipes, some for all meals and snacks, easy and quick. A recipe that takes only one paragraph to tell how to throw all the ingredients together for a scrumptious dish is my kind of book. Then Martha gives a little history for each recipe about how that food was used in

When it comes to creating recipes, I have little imagination so I turn to cookbooks for ideas. My problem with many of them, though, is that the recipes are either too complicated or the ingredients too hard to find. So it was with great pleasure that I discovered Stir, Laugh, Repeat by Martha A. Cheves. Her straightforward recipes reflect her southern U.S. background and use simple, affordable ingredients. Cheves provides a number of money-saving tips which is greatly appreciated.

Finding Joy While Playing in the Kitchen

By Martha A Cheves

ISBN: 978-60462-818-0

I found this to be a most enjoyable cookery book. Not only are the recipes delicious, but also they are so very easy to follow and I love the stories that appear at the end of each recipe.

One of the things that appealed to me was that Martha uses basic ingredients, the kind you would find in your store cupboard at home. There is no need for a trip to the high-class food stores to find some exotic in

Cooking: It is something we all have to do from time to time. So why not find joy while playing around in the kitchen. I loved how Martha starts out her old-fashioned cook book with a recipe for banana puddin. This of my favorite desserts that brings back so many good memories. Scattered about this wonderful cook book are tips that will help anyone (especially a beginner) cook fabulous dishes. This is one book that you will use and want to pass on to your future generations. Reading this was a s ...more

My wife and I were vacationing in the Hudson Valley recently and stopped at a quintessential northeastern town for lunch. Afterwards we browsed an antique store where we bought a very old and heavy wooden rolling pin. I thought at the time, what fascinating stories and recipes this antique must hold. Now I've some idea. "Stir, Laugh, Repeat" is a cookbook that delivers not only delicious snacks, meals and desserts, but stories behind them--real life events that contribute as much to the experien ...more
