i'm reading this right now and right now the world around me is over 400 advertisements a day plastered everywhere, hurtful, piercing and shrill. It is needless cacophony over coffee, people stabbing at conversation- attacking it like chickens with meal.
It seems no one wants to use words with any grace, in order to express a thought worth wrapping my mind around. The day can progress as an onslaught of mental litter, leaving an echo in the head that sounds like the scrape of an aluminium c...more

I have picked this book up again and again throughout the years, and it has never ceased to inspire me. Although Rilke was quite young during these correspondences, his insights on the artistic life are deep and meaningful. He was a hardcore dude!
I think that anyone, an artist or not, could read this book and find something that relates to their current life situation.

This book was very interesting, seeing only one side of the correspondence. Was there really another poet? Probably, but at very least, this book concreted my belief that I cannot do anything but create. In fact, it even inspired me to get the ball rolling even faster certain projects. Its beautiful, tragic, and inspiring.

Boy I don;t remmeber much of this, but it really moved me. it got me to think that poetry was a powerful tool for understanding.
Also the openness and tenderness of Rilke opened my eyes to a concrete example of masculinity that is sadly lacking in our football world. His honesty and reflection were humbling.

I have read this book over and over again! I absolutely love it! There is just something about his advice that relates to more then just poetry. Love it!

You can read letters Rainer Maria Rilke wrote to a youg writer. There is complete wisdom and life answers in the letters. It also has some wonderful poems as well.

I enjoyed this, which I read at the end of my theology studies. It merits re-reading regularly.
