okay... so im giving this whole series 5 stars, not for it's literary content (it is manga afterall!) but for the nostalgia it brings me and its humor.

i read this whole series as it was being published back in the early-mid 90s, when i was in junior high and high school. I read the korean translation as it was a huge hit in korea at the time. i remember going to the local bookstore every two months for the new copy. the lady at the bookstore always saved one for me.

during my last trip back hom
page on 1-30 was talking about Suramu Danku join the basketball team. and he don't know how to play baksetball he try to get someone to teach him to play. And Takenori Akagi he is a baksetball best plauyer. Suramu Danku don't like him because they love the same girl. but Suramu Danku he try to punch Takenori Akagi.

I liked how it came clear in this volume that the main character really wants to play basketball and that he doesn't play only to impress a girl.

Takehiko Inoue (井上雄彦) is a Japanese manga artist, best known for the basketball manga Slam Dunk, which has become a success both in Japan and overseas. Many of his works are about basketball, Inoue himself being a huge fan of the sport, and many Japanese children started to play basketball because they read the manga. This in turn helped make basketball popular in Japan and across East Asia.
