I loved this book! I used to live in Salem, MA and I live near Portsmouth, Kittery, and Newburyport, so I know many of the towns they talk about in this book well. The book combines local history, urban legends, and first-hand ghost hunting experiences in an entertaining, educating, and enlivening read. I didn't know, for instance, that the Isles of Shoals was used by pirates or that leftist terrorists set off bombs in Newburyport and Boston in the 1970's. The history was fascinating and the ...more

Jo and I were both into haunted houses and such while living in New England (and beyond that, I suppose) so we both bought this book and read it. Neat stuff. Of course, whether it's real or not is up to the reader...
