Love this series. Always a good fight for the heroine who struggles with being determined and then wondering if she is doing the right thing. I love her reliance on God and the peace she receives from praying, but it is not without an internal struggle and external challenges. Just enough danger to keep turning pages and wonder if she will make it through, and always an unexpected outcome. I'm looking forward to the next one...

I hate to say that I liked this book less than the first one. There were far too many elements of trite Christian fiction typical of Tracie Peterson for Bell's far better writing to overwhelm.

The story could have been so much better if Bell had been the only author. The plot was compelling with just enough twists to make it interesting without being unbelievable. However, these good aspects were overshadowed by "preaching" and sudden character changes.

Fantastic

Bell certainly writes exciting historical mysteries. I love all the twists. I love the historical and Christian lessons of women's rights. Love this author. Off to buy the next book!

The book's setting is Los Angeles in the early 1900's, and Kit Shannon is a wonderful character.

All in all, this is a terrific saga and I hope it continues onto book 3 - last one in this series.

Book 2 of the Shannon Saga, and I love this book as much as the first. It deals with the theme of racism and prejudice.

Please see my review for Angels of Mercy, which is the final book in this fine Kit Shannon series.
