'Hmmm, feeling a bit ‘meh’ about this one. Riding the high of Devil May Cry, I dove straight in expecting good things and it all fell flat for me I’m afraid.

This book felt more like a glorified novella. It’s really short, and there’s not a lot of story to really get drawn into. And although we get a brief visit from some of the characters we’ve met in earlier books, it feels a bit isolated from the rest of the DH world – although I’ve been assured that these characters do appear later in the ser...more

This story veers from what I am used to in the Dark Hunter series. The roles are reversed in that Aiden is the human, and Leta is a goddess Dream Hunter. Aiden is a world famous actor who has turned bitter towards the world and all of his family. His brother has made a deal with Dolor, God of Pain, to kill him--basically because he is jealous of Aiden's success. Two thousand years ago, Dolor murdered her husband and baby. Leta trapped him so he could not hurt anyone else. The only way he could g...more

Aiden is the most handsome, successful actor to come out of Hollywood since Brad Pitt. But betrayals by family members- and by the woman he loved- has made him a bitter recluse.

However his family isn't done with him yet. His psycho brother Donnie has awakened the ancient god Dolor (Ultimate Pain) and is dead set on siccing him on Aiden. Little does Donnie know that when he awakened Pain to do his dirty work, he also awakened the Dream Hunter/Goddess who once placed Dolor in stasis for thousands...more

I hate to say this but I think Kenyon's Dream Hunter book series just doesn't make the cut. Both of the dedicated books to Dream Hunters have felt like crappy filler. This one was even worse, in my opinion, than Arik's book as it was large print to make it look like more pages than it was. The only saving grace was the little Christmas snippets at the end that gave us a peek at the characters we love from the Dark Hunters and Were Hunters.

I think the Dream Hunters really need to stay as only sid...more

Audio- It was so cheesy, so predictable, and ended with such a common resolution. So chewy sweet I think I got a cavity. 2.5 stars. I didn't hate it but it was just Meh for me.
I wish I had just skipped this book. It really had no ties to the rest of the series.

This is the second Dream-Hunter novel that I've read and although I am a huge fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s - I was sorely disappointed by this one. It’s lacking in a lot of things. Her characters weren’t developed enough for you to actually grow fond of them. Aidan was just to whiny and needy for me to like him, and Leta just never really amounted to much when it counted either.

Too much happened in too short of a time period. It didn't feel very believable and it almost felt more like a chore to r...more

Well, how can i start...

I heard so much about this book, and a lot of it was negative.
I was unsure what i would face. But against all odds i really liked it!
The story was believable. I didn't though it was rushed. And the main caracters were carismatic. For me it wins it all. There is nothing worse than reading a story and nothing liking the caracters at all. And the romance convinced me.

Aidan was really interesting, more that Leta.
Maybe because i could relate more to him. First, he...more

Well, one word can describe how I felt after finishing this book .. disappointed. When you first see the Upon The Midnight Clear, it looks like a full-length novel. It is only when you open the book do you realise that it isn't a full-length novel at all. The font and the spacing between the lines is much larger than normal. Unfortunately it reads as a padded out novella. There really isn't much substance to the story at all. My main disappointment is that there just isn't enough depth to the ce...more

Synopsis - Actor Aidan O'Connor was betrayed by the people he loved most, and has lived as a hermit ever since. His older brother Donnie was the primary instigator and has now summoned Dolor, the biggest, baddest god of Pain, to kill Aidan. Leta is the goddess of sleep who imprisoned Dolor last time, and she will do whatever it takes to defeat him. After all, he was Zeus' instrument in killing her child and husband. Leta fought to protect innocents from Dolor long beyond that until she felt that...more
Fangs for the Fantasy
Aidan is a first rate actor, academy award winner and Hollywood A-list. He has been betrayed by everyone he loved and cared about – leaving him with a very low view of humanity and a complete inability to trust people.

But his brother has decided to seek further revenge and summoned Dolor – the embodiment and deity of Pain who will be freed by human sacrifice – and by torturing and killing Aidan. Leta, the Oneroi a sleep goddess, has given herself the task to control Dolor, to prevent any more pe...more

I’ve always liked the idea of gods, goddesses, demi-gods, and demons. Sherrilyn Kenyon does a wonderful job of mixing these things in with the lives of everyday people and making them seem believable. New York Times bestselling author, Sherrilyn Kenyon, has a wonderful series dedicated to this theme. Each novel introduces two new characters; however the characters are intertwined with the ones of the previous novels, that makes up one magnificent collection of books.

In the novel Upon the Midnig...more

First Dream-Hunter Book!It seems like one Dark Hunter book! This is the book of Sherrilyn Kenyon that has the biggest bastard of the entire *Sherrilyn Kenyon's fantasy world*!!!And that is...... you got it right:DONNIE!!!! He is an selfish, jealous, cruel and insane person~!!! GOD!! Can't we really call him a person?!

(Don't think that I'm insane or that i started to think that the book world does exist!!! For me as long as no one has proven to me that *that* world does exist, i will keep in min...more

I've been grunting, roaring and mumbling in myself as I read this book and it wasn't pretty, still in some odd way I was mildly pleased, note....I said pleased, not ecstatic or raving. First I have to say that I feel that Sherrilyn Kenyon over did it a bit with Aidan's attitude, especially the first half of the book he was in one state of mind: I-do-not-trust-anyone-for-I-have-been-royally-******-over-by-everyone-in-my-life. Then we have Leta, a Goddess who needs Aidan's anger, no problem there...more

Genre: Paranormal Romance

I waffled between 1 and 2 stars for this. It’s an unbelievable story with some very annoying elements. There were two main things that bothered me; first the heroine (Leta) is a goddess who’s been fighting the God of Pain for ages. She alone confined him so that he could only affect the human world if he were summoned with a sacrifice of someone the summoner cares for. The hero (Aiden) is human. Yet, time and time again, Leta has to be saved by Aiden. This wouldn’t bothe...more

A história é pequenit...more

This really seemed like a short story that Kenyon came up with and decided to publish as a novel and set in large print to extend page count. It was a little thin compared to her other works, but still quite enjoyable.

Basically the love story between a goddess and a mortal movie star who shunned the limelight after being used one time too often by friends and family for what he had or could do for him, and the fact that his brother was so eated by jelousy he turned everyone against him didn't he...more

I was not impressed with “Dream Hunter” – it was not up to the level of the series before it. Unfortunately, this follow-up didn't improve that – it was just an okay story. This was actually more of a long novella than a novel, and the shorter length didn’t help matters. Dolor, a god of pain, has been summoned from sleep to kill someone. Leta, an Oneroi with no emotions who is suddenly starting to feel some, must protect his target. Aiden is consumed by bitterness and pain from the betrayal of t...more

There are so many things I could say about Upon the Midnight clear. Both positive and negative. While most of the reviews this year have been books above three stars, sadly Upon the Midnight Clear falls below a three to two and a half stars.

I loved the book at first, with its large text, easy to read storyline and provoking character Aidan. To me, I wanted to crawl into a ball and rock myself along with his sadness. His opinions on the world and humanity resonated with me strongly, and although...more

Aidan just wants to be left alone. His brother has turned everyone against him, and now he has summoned the God of pain to kill him. Leta goes to fight Dolor and help Aidan live. There is an instant attraction between them that becomes a deep trust and love. Aidan and Leta make a great team and they both deserve happiness after each of their bad pasts. Great series and Great read!!

"3.5 stars" Upon the Midnight Clear was another offering in the Dark-Hunter series that felt like it was hurriedly rushed to publication. I've heard some fans say that the Dream-Hunter stories are the weakest in the series, and I'm beginning to see why. Upon the Midnight Clear was a reasonably pleasant diversion, but it didn't really offer anything new or unique to the paranormal romance genre or even the Dark-Hunter series. Neither the characters, nor the plot had a grea...more

Like my reaction to the preceding book in this Kenyon series, Devil May Cry, I liked the romantic lead characters, but didn't like the extent to which the book seemed to stray so far from the original Dark Hunter characters and plot. Aidan was sympathetic and likable, and Leta was a strong and interesting heroine (if introduced completely out of the blue). Given how short the book was and how large the type-face was (think of the large-print type your grandma might read and you've got it about r...more

I guess I skipped right over book 13. Which is weird because I have it sitting next to me! Whatever. This was more a novelette than an actual novel. Being shorter than normal, the action moved very quickly. Girl meets guy, girl and guy fight, girl melts guy's frozen heart, girl and guy make sweet love, girl and guy fight the bad guys. Done! No, really. It wasn't a bad book, by any means, it was just not as well developed as previous installments. Delving back into the world of the Dream-Hunters,...more
