ugh. mary anne spier at her worst.
so, mary anne's dad used to be kind of over-protective because he's a single parent & was trying too hard to be both mom & dad to her. in book #4, they had a talk after mary anne saved jenny prezzioso from a high fever, & mr. spier has loosened up a bit. he even let mary anne adopt tigger, the perpetual wonder kitten. this book opens with dawn & mary anne biking downtown to pick up some more cat toys for tigger. apparently he bats them behind the...more

I was not into the pet-centered books, so I didn't really care that Mary Anne lost her cat. (It also bugged me that he was "a kitten" for like a million years in this series.) But that was the plot, so we went with it.
My sister had a cat that used to play with the same kinds of toys that were described in this story, so the fact that the cat would hit them behind the fridge was really visual to me for some reason. I can still picture the row of cat toy balls lined up behind the fridge which ever...more

Mary Anne freaks when she loses her kitten, Tigger, and she and the club paper the neighborhood with "Lost Cat" flyers. She’s further upset that Logan doesn’t seem to care. After a brief adventure in which the club members fear they are dealing with a ransom kidnapper (it turns out to be a hoax, spurred by the reward offered on the flier), Mary Anne discovers that Logan’s sister Kerry took in the cat because she wants a pet so badly. (Kerry and Logan’s younger brother, Hunter, has a number of a...more
The Baby-Sitters Club, Mary Anne and the Search for Tigger, written by Ann M. Martin. Join the 6 babysitter girls in search for Mary Anne’s kitten, Tigger. Tigger is lost, or maybe even cat-napped. Follow the girls search and read along as they raise money for a reward to help find Tigger, and find out if he is just lost or truly cat-napped. As always the Baby=sitters club gives the reader friendship and adventure along the way. Each of the many stories will engage your child in a story they wil...more
Fantastic books for young girls getting into reading!! Great stories about friendship and life lessons. The characters deal with all sorts of situations and often find responsible solutions to problems.
I loved this series growing up and wanted to start my own babysitting business with friends. Great lessons in entrepreneurship for tweens.
The books may be dated with out references to modern technology but the story stands and lessons are still relevant.

Sick days call for comfort reads! I found this book a bit underwhelming. It revolves entirely around Mary Anne's kitten going missing and the babysitting chapters that were tied in weren't terribly relevant. Likewise, Mary Anne and Logan's issues felt like they'd been contrived purely to create more conflict. Although this was written by Ann herself I didn't think this was one of the better BSC books, which was a pity, as Mary Anne is one of my favourite characters. 3*
Honestly, Logan's a bit of a jerk in this one. I know he was under a lot of stress, but still! And it greatly frustrated me that Kerry's punishment was as light as it was. She stole a cat for crying out loud!

"Mary Anne is stupid enough to leave her kitten, Tigger (whom I always call Tiger in my head), outside on his own when she goes to a BSC meeting. Then, she is totally shocked and dismayed when she comes home and he is missing...."

I read about 20-25 of these books. I read them in fifth and sixth grade. I strongly remember wanting to read these because they seemed cool and my older sister read a few of them. I remember that our library had a little display of them and I also bought a lot of them through the book catalogs we got at school. I remember most strongly the set up of the books; each book started explaining the club and describing each of the members. I also strongly remember the covers.
