Soul Survivor is an intriguing medical / military adventure with a beautifully designed cover guaranteed to attract my attention. The author’s medical background on the back of the book promises an interesting and well-researched tale, and the quoted description of Tantalus inside adds a nice touch of class.

The novel starts with a mystical prolog that jumps from 5th century Moldavia to a haunted castle in Scotland. Particle physics professor Abernathy Jones, famous for rewriting the basis of the

I have to say I almost put down this book after reading the prologue. I am glad I didn’t it was a wild ride that scared me with the ending. The writer is definitely in the medical field from all the scientific terminology used. It helped and hurt the book depending on your personal preference. I must add I have not read a medical thriller in ages either so I can not speak from that perspective. I am glad I read the book entirely because it kept getting better and better as the story unfolds for

‘Soul Survivor’, by Edward Steiner hooked me in the beginning, bored me in the middle but I pushed through and finished. Good story with an ending that was perfect. The ending saved this book for me.

The parts that left me frustrated were the over use of abbreviations, some without an explanation of what they meant. The over use of the'!' mark left by the narrator, (I can handle it in dialogue). Characters having a photographic memory bore me, and two having the same gift really drive me crazy,

Won as a first read and just recieved it today...will be starting it soon! :) Finally got around to reading this and it was hard for me to get into. Books that center around medicine are not my thing, but the description sounded interesting so I thought I would give it a go. Still, I think the reason I wasn't obsessed with it might have been due to the male-narration, but besides that, it was pretty good. I am still excited I won this as a first read and happy to have it in my collection!
