Kitty McKenzie is a gritty but heart warming story of a young woman in York in the Victorian era, fighting to protect her siblings and keep them together after their parents are killed. At the hands of a very good writer, my emotions rose and fell with Kitty's struggle.. Kitty is such a great character, strong, and determined not to allow the hardships she faces to get the better of her as she works hard and selflessly to rise above their bleak future. Kitty McKenzie may have been a slow start for me but picked up speed rapidly. This is a heart warming story of family ties and love. It tugs at the heart and makes me wish I could have known Kitty McKenzie in real life.
