Knowledgeable guide to making presentations

Many people would rather try to flush a snarling bobcat down the toilet than give a speech. Indeed, individuals often rate public speaking as a primary fear. Delivering a speech summons the same jacked-up “fight or flight” response that animals depend upon to survive predator attacks. Your breathing rate shoots through the roof. You cannot think clearly. You are suddenly in severe physical crisis. Unfortunately, when you give a speech, you cannot fight

Ideas and hints that explains how public speaking and presentation stuff really works. By the way it explains why voters choose bad / stupid politicians over intellectual ones and why consumers don't buy ideas and content if there is so nice facade / packaging of far worse products.

Yes, this is essential reading, applicable to any kind of communication situation, not only presentations.

Anyone who speaks in front of people should read this book. Weissman goes into the subconscious signals that affect our interaction with an audience. He also links to a website where readers can view positive and negative examples of audience interaction. He coaches speakers on how not to defeat themselves on stage through bad body language, and then how to use body language to have a more natural presentation.

This book was also a recommendation for my class and this book was the first one I chose to read.

It was an amazing book to pick up. Teaching methods to make a good public speech.
I liked the part that it used a lot of figures from the political scene for examples.

I would like to get back and read the book again some day.

I was initally worried that this book would be just for the person with a fear of speaking. But it really spoke to me (please forgive the pun) with good quality ideas that anybody can use. The direct eye contact method was particularly good - I've not purchased another of his books, and hope to read it soon!

Another great from Weissman. What we have here is a more thoughtful design in how to become the kind of presenter that goes beyond just delivering a message.

The points in the book are very good and a bit surprising.

The book though could be much shorter covering the same items.
