Snow is not always enjoyable by all that encounter it. This cute short story shows children the different ways animals react to the cold, fluffy, white stuff that falls from the sky. Each page describes a characteristic relating to a specific animal. The words are large and some are bold in certain places to help and inflection and meaning to the word. Ages k-2 will enjoy reading and hearing this story. Teachers can use it to teach children about the different habits of certain animals in t More...

Read this aloud to Natalie with her propped up to see the pictures. She seemed to look at the super big bold print more than most of the pictures. I liked the symmetry of the story and how it taught about how animals react / adapt to the cold.

Read this fun wintry book to Kindergarten the other week. They liked the animals and we talked about how it smells when it's about to snow.

A very simple picture book, with bold, bright paintings of animals preparing for the snowy winter. This would appeal to pretty young children, whom I can envision memorizing it and "reading" it back to their parents, but I actually used it to review animal adaptations with second grade. "'Snow... snow... so... sleepy,' mumbled Bear, as he drifted into dreams."

There are many books that depict the changes that come with spring. It was nice to find a book about winter changes.
