This book explained the life of Derek Jeter and how he always followed his dreams. He explained how to never give up and how important it is to be close to family and friends. From reading this story, I learned how to stay focused on my dreams regardless of what happens, and that dreams are important to have. My favorite aspects of the book were the parts when it talked about Jeter’s struggles throughout life and how he overcame them such as being a very scrawny player in high school and having ...more

How far would you go to achieve excellence? How hard would you push yourself so that you are standing alone on top hovering over everyone knowing you earned your way here with all the hours you put into completing this goal.

Derek Jeter was just an ordinary boy who dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player one day like most kids would. But Derek wasn’t just dreaming this he strived for this, expected this. Derek was always a good baseball player his whole life. Always practicing to achie

I think that this book was very inspiring. Even though it was repetitive, it got the message through to really show the reader what he meant. Derek Jeter wanted to show us that he had followed his goals and had a strict plan. I like how he related a lot of the events that happened to him, to things that we can relate to. Obviously Derek Jeter is a sports star, and wrote about his career in baseball, I would recommend this book to anyone. The lessons it teaches are very important and I was able t ...more

The Life you Imagine by Derek Jeter and Jack Curry is an inspiring biography about Derek Jeter and his journey of becoming a professional baseball player for the New York Yankees. Derek Jeter, from a very young age, had a dream which he transformed into a reality. Derek Jeter played 20 seasons for the NYY and is a five time World Series champion. In this biography, Derek shares memories from his childhood about his love for baseball, his earliest memories of baseball, his dream, and the impact t ...more

This biography about Derek Jeter was a great book. I recently read a biography about Mariano Rivera, another Yankee legend, so when I saw this book, I had an immediate connection. In this book, Derek tells the reader his road to greatness. As you can imagine, it didn’t come easy. What I liked about this book is how Jeter focuses on how he had a vision since he was eight years old. I also like when he talks about how all of his goals growing up, were focussed on that sole dream, to play in the M ...more

In the book, The Life You Imagine written by Derek Jeter, Jeter tells the story of his life and how he went from being a kid in Kalamazoo, Michigan to the starting shortstop for the New York Yankees and being a World Series champion. As soon as Jeter could pick up a baseball, he knew that his dream was to play professional baseball and play for the New York Yankees. With the support of his parents from a young age Derek was able to “see Yankee Stadium” every night before he went to bed and “hear ...more

Over the summer, I read a book called The Life You Imagine: Life Lessons for Achieving Your Dream by Derek Jeter and Jack Curry. This book was published in 2001. The main character of the book of course is Derek Jeter. At such a young age, Jeter dreamed about playing baseball, especially for the Yankees. Without the help of his parents, he wouldn't have been here today. Derek Jeter informs us readers about all the lifelong lessons he's been through and shares it step by step. While Jeter was in ...more

This book was very good, i play baseball myself so i can relate to some of the thing's that happened in this book. There was a lot of good details in this book, some of my favorite things about this book was the goals Derek Jeter would set , even if they were short term goals he would set his mind to it and get it done. Derek Jeter is one of the players i look up to, not only on how he plays the game, but how he respects the game, his teammates and the coaches .

The Life You Imagine: Life Lessons for Achieving Your Dreams with Derek Jeter By Jack Curry is now one of my top favorite books. I choose this book really because my favorite baseball team is the Yankees. When I saw Derek Jeter on the cover the I said to myself like, “ I'm just going to read this because it has a former Yankee superstar on the cover” not thinking I was really going to get anything out of it just the average book. "The Life You Imagine" takes readers on Derek Jeter's journey of reaching his dream–to play in big leagues for the New York Yankees. As a little kid, Derek was obsessed with the Yankees; decorating his room with everything Yankees, including a uniform and cap. Whether he was playing in high school or the minor league, every time Derek made a mistake he would always learn from it. From making an error on the field or striking out at the plate, he wouldn't let that stop him from becoming a better ...more

I liked his book because it showed perserverience pays off, He spent such a long time in the minors getting signed out of college. This book covers from when Jeter was 17 until he retired from the MLB. The main character(s) is Derek Jeter, but his parents also influenced him a lot. The most significant event that caused Jeter to write this is when he got drafted 6th overall by the Yankees in 1992. He was the first player to be named All Star and World Series MVP. He helped them win the world series in 1995, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2009. He was drafted straight out of high school. I really enjoyed how steady this book was. I l ...more

A good book for kids (probably middle school age and up). It's a cool time to read it with his retirement this year. I didn't realize the professionalism, dignity, and dedication he plays and leads his career with, but certainly appreciate it and respect it now. It's also cool to see that 14 years after writing the book, he is wrapping up his career with the same standards and classiness that he began it with, while other great professional athletes that he mentions in 2000 have sense brought de ...more

I thought the book "The Life You imagine" was a well-documented story of Derek Jeter's life. While reading this autobiography, I felt like i was inside of derek Jeter's life. It told what activities he did besides sports, his household rules and the standards he was held to. Jeter did an extraordinary job of explaining the hardships he went through while trying to make it to the major league. You could almost feel his emotions. Most people don't know where to look for inspiration. Derek Jeter had his parents to turn to, and he thanks them for that, but he tells the world that you must be self motivated and self inspired to be successful in life. Derak Jeter wrote an auto biography called, "The Life You Imagine". In his book he talks about his early life before he played in the major leagues, his pro career, and what he does off the field to better this world.

I highly recommend this book to others because it is a very good book and this player was very good at baseball. If want to read something then read this, it is very inspiring and it made me change everything I thought about being a good player. All the things he says in this about how he set his goals really high and him not stopping until he got his goal was really cool and it makes me want to try to do it. If you are my age then I suggest you to read this book and you will like it.

When I purchased this book I knew it was written for teens, but since Jeter is one of the few scandal free athletes, I was interested in what he had to say. It's written in a very simple manner [whether so teens find it an easy read or it's the way he writes:] and many things are repeated time and time [isn't it true that to remember you have to hear something 3 times?:] but I think this is a very powerful book. Not only should it be placed on the 'must read' list for teens, pre teens, and colle ...more

This is a super good book for young adults. It is not so much a biography as much as it is a layout for the steps Derek Jeter took to become successful throughout his life. The book is filled with life lessons, about never giving up, determination, and the importance of support from others and for yourself. It is also very relatable to a young adult who may look up to a superstar athlete like Derek Jeter.

people always think they can’t do something because their small, or too weak. In the book Derek Jeter we see this happen.
When Derek was little he wanted to become a baseball player. However he was too small to hit the ball and too weak to hold the bat. So when he finally got older he was big enough to smack the ball 300 ft. Coupled with him working on playing baseball every day and striving to play in the MLB.

This book should be read by all athletes wanting to go pro. The writing in this book is beautiful it tells how hard it is to get to the next level in baseball. It also states how you have to pursue your dream Jeter did this by never giving up and always practicing and wanting to play the game of baseball. The strengths about this book is that it is very motivating and makes you believe that you can achieve anything you put your mind towards. A weakness is that I couldn't find one.
