I really enjoyed this book because it combined my love of baseball, mystery, and action into one book. The main boy,Josh, is this "baseball great" and his dad was one too. To reach his full potential, Josh's dad makes him play for an intense traveling team instead of his school team that all of his friends play for. Meanwhile, Josh's dad lost his job playing for a minor league team and needs the job with Rocky;s baseball team that his son is playing for. Josh has trouble making friends with his ne ...more

In the book "Baseball Great" by Tim Green, the main character Josh is a huge baseball fan and player. He loves the game. His dad (31 years old) played all throughout his childhood but can't make it past the triple a's. Early in the book he got told he is being cut from the team. His dream of making it to the big leagues then transfers down to his son Josh. Josh is forced to quit the school team and try out for a team that is filled with kids only 14 years old while he is only 12 years old. Not ...more

I thought this book was good because it kept me reading and reading. Also it kinda showed a moral lesson in this book like "it doesn't matter if youre not good at it matters when youre having fun playing it " because Josh was put on a #1 ranked baseball team and he didnt even want that he wanted to be playing with his friends so he can have fun and enjoy himself, but insteaad his dad of course wanted to see more potential on his son by putting him in a better team. So it doesn't really matter wh ...more

“Lets go,” the umpire said to Josh.
Josh nodded and stepped up to the plate. He glanced at the loaded bases then at the two outs up on the scoreboard. The pitcher reared back and jerked sideways. His arm whipped around and came Josh’s way. Most people would see it like they’d see a snake flick its tongue, but Josh saw more. The ball left the pitcher’s hand with a perfect spin, a fastball to the outside edge of the plate.
Josh swung big, and connected with a crack.
The ball took off.”

Baseball Great came on my radar when it was announced as the required all-school summer reading selection for our district’s two middle schools.

The wheels start to come off early in Tim Green’s book when it presents a 31-year old minor league pitcher at the AAA level in the Toronto Blue Jays system. That didn’t sound right, so I checked into it. A 31-year old pitcher might be hanging around in an independent league somewhere, but no major league farm team has had a pitcher that old on a AAA ros

A Review of Football Hero by Tim Green
What would you do if you were going to have to save your brother from getting badly hurt? Well, this is just one crazy thing that happens to Ty Lewis in the novel Football Hero by Tim Green. Ty Lewis is living with his Uncle Gus, Aunt Virginia, and cousin Charlotte because of his parent's death and his brother getting ready for football season. Although Ty's brother is on the New York Jets, his life isn't too great. If readers of this book understand footba

Baseball Great by Tim Green is the book I have currently been reading. Josh is a kid who has tremendous talent to be seen by many. He's a baseball player who seems to have a lot of talent and potential in him. He is playing a his school in which one of his friends Jaden the school news reporter has seen him play and knows that Josh is so good he can really carry his team on his back as many superstars “pros” do. His dad has moved him schools which means he's now playing for a different team and ...more

One of our department heads suggested this as our summer read. First thought - why am I reading about a bully who is in high school and who smokes? Next, I noticed it’s not about him, but about a twelve-year old. This one is very predictable. It’s got a couple of characters I could do without (the bully & his supposed 8th grade girlfriend), and a character for comic relief, but we each plot element led me to know what would happen next, and I like good writing that surprises me. Obviously Ti ...more

My own opinion on this book that I read is very good because this book was very suspensful and that there was a lot of shocks in this book and so what this book shows is this kid named Jim is a very good baseball player and is top 10 in the state but another kid bullies him and tries to say that he is not good but in the end they have a game and compete with eachother and in the end jim wins. The main reason why I love this book so much is because what I got out of it was that there are many peo ...more

After reading 12 pages of Baseball Great by Tim Green, I
chose to not read it for my second book report. I chose to not read it for my book report
because I had already read a sports book for my other report. Another reason I chose to not
read this book was because Josh gets picked on a lot and he moves a lot too. Lastly, I thought that this sounds like a good book because of the actions and drama. Because of these reasons, I
rated the book 4 stars. However, this could change if I were to read t

Young Reader Reaction: Baseball Great presents baseball in a way that captures the excitement in the game and depicts it without any obscure baseball terms, but as the same time, without oversimplifying the subject either. Everyone can enjoy the book, not just baseball enthusiasts. The characters are realistic, with actions and dialogue readers would expect. They also represent diverse personalities.

Although Baseball Great has its strong points it suffers from redundancy. Even so, it keeps reade

As a sports fan, I always look for fiction involving sports. So when I happened across this book I thought I’d give it a shot.

Well, what can I say? The first thing I suppose I can mention is that I managed to guess certain parts of the plot about three-fourths of the way through. Although I will follow that up by saying that I was right and yet I was wrong. Which I found vastly entertaining and laughed at myself for thinking I was a darn know-it-all! *lol*

This was a great book. Normally I don’t
