This is an excelled vegan cookbook with an array of recipes from all over the globe. A few recipes that look particularily appetizing-"Thai-Style Leaf-Wrapped Appetizer Bites", "Jerk-Spiced Portobello Steaks","Layered Polenta Chili Casserole","Rustic Peasant Loaf with Black Olives and Sun-dried Tomatoes"...I could go on and on, and that is because there are 400 recipes to choose from! One of the greatest features of these recipes is that they are arrange...more

Ok, this cookbook ended up surprising me. I was skeptical because of its bulkiness, odd chapter ordering and bizarre font (in my opinion) used for part of the book. However, the recipes in here are a home run. I have found the easiest way to get acquainted with it is to have a particular ingredient in mind and look in the glossary to see what recipes feature that ingredient. I have by no stretch of the imagination tried the majority of the recipes in here, but I feel confident giving it five...more

Yes, there are 400 recipes in here, all vegan, and they're divided into chapters that make sense. There is more than adequate information about vegan food and some about the vegan kitchen. The recipes look delicious and easy to make. And I do like this cookbook. But the negatives are that it isn't very attractive (there are no pictures and the text fonts/colors I find difficult to read easily), and it's very thick: would suggest before making a recipe to photocopy the needed pages because it is ...more

To date the best Vegan cookbook I have encountered. Filled with information on health and nutrition for those who have chosen to stop eating critters--it is meaningfully more than a mere list of recipes. Everything I have made out of this to date has been out-fucking-standing--a simple fact has made foreswearing all animal products a much tastier process than I would have imagined possible.

This great cookbook has a wealth of vegan dishes from around the world, and most recipes are reasonably easy to prepare. I don't mind spending a few hours in the kitchen when I have the time, but I also like making quick meals a couple of times a week. This cookbook has a wide variety of meals, ingredients, flavors, and levels of difficulty. I use it regularly.

What can I say? I love to cook. And this book has all the best vegan recipes from around the world- you know most people on the planet eat very little meat and dairy anyway. This book has recipes for Thai Spring Rolls with Hot Peanut Sauce, Vegetable Pakoras, African Sweet Potato Stew, Tomatillo-Cilantro Salsa, and tons more yummy dishes.

What a wealth of good vegan recipes! Almost everything I have made from this cookbook has turned out well. I love the author's organizational system. I think it works much better than the typical appetizer, main dish, sides, desserts setup that most cookbooks have. There is quite a wealth of diversity as well, which is great.

I thought the info at the beginning of the book was pretty good. My only criticism is that there seems to be a lot of use of sugar in the recipes. The majority of the recipes also use soy. So, if you're sensitive to either of these, plan on getting creative with substitutions and modifications to the recipes.

I have found some really delightful recipes in this book. the best thing about it is the variety of options!
Yes, I have found some recipes I didn't like, but that's bound to happen in any cookbook. Overall, I really like it, and there are some wonderful, useful tips throughout the book as well.

once upon a time I yearned to be a vegan. granted, I don't know what I was thinking, I still love this book. I learned so much from it and still employ many of it's tricks today. no pics, which I miss, still explains things very well and has massive amounts of relevant information.

Every recipe in this book that I have tried has been wonderful!
I plan on trying one new recipe a week... at that pace I will have made everything in the book around the year 2017! This is a must for any vegan - or vegan wannabe.

this is the best basic vegan cookbook i've seen. it covers all of the fundamentals (substitutions, treatment of vegetables, how to make seitan, etc.) and has a bunch of fun recipes which are a little more complicated as well.

This is an amazing, unique source of vegan recipes.
I haven't gotten round to make many of the recipes yet, but have liked all of the ones I made, so far.
Just with any massive cookbook, I cannot decide what to make first.

Since I cannot eat eggs or dairy while I am breastfeeding Liam (he gets a rash), I am trying to learn more about how to bake and cook without eggs. So far, this looks to be a good resource.

Absolutely brilliant things to do with seitan and mushrooms ;-]
So far it's my hands down favorite vegetarian cookbook. Very earthy, creative, satisfying food.

Awesome book! I'm not a vegan and I love this book. I've tried several of the recipes and all have gotten rave reviews from everyone, including meat-eaters.

Droolworthy. The recipes look fantastic, most of them seem pretty simple to put together. I'm truly looking forward to trying them out.
