One of my favourite stories by J.M. Snyder is Power Play, a story about two teens who fall in love despite the different social status and the young age. Another one is Scarred, a story where a young man, brutally and continuously raped by a gang, preserves his kisses, the only thing he could freely give to a lover.

Nguh! I’m a bit wound up by this book. I started reading thinking it was YA…but um, no, it wasn’t…at least not in my eyes.

Alex signs up as a volunteer in a youth shelter and he is assigned to Jamie, a teenager two years younger than he is. Jamie is hot and he thinks and oozes sex and Alex has a hard time to control himself around him and that is a problem because Alex thinks he needs to set a good example for Jamie. How can he do that if he thinks about Jamie all the time, in a way that a mentor shouldn't?

I'm a huge fan of J.M. Snyder and really loved this book, though I didn't expect to. (Father Nate's acceptance/tolerance, dare I say encouragment, of the gay Alex & Jamie spiked my hink-o-meter, to say the least.) But I fell for Alex & Jamie, anyway. Fast, too. The depth of POV in this book is stellar. My gut twisted right along with Alex's in certain parts and I found myself hoping for and rooting for Jamie.

So I realized that I might have rated this one a little low. Don't get me wrong but I was basing my rating on the fact that it had no sex, typical me right. Well while on the bus ( Yeh even then I think about gay men) I thought to myself. "This really wasn't a bad story. It was really sweet,lots of sexual tension and likeable characters. The plot makes sense and is realistic. Sometimes its good to go back and think about what you read, cus you can be a little off with the rat More...

This book was really good, but I would have loved to see more background on the characters and maybe a little glimpse into their future together.
