The detailed business plan outline is CRUCIAL. The rest of Spellman's advice ranges from helpful to ridiculous. An informative, if not essential volume for those looking to break into the industry.

Overall, there is some solid information to be had in here. I love the way in which Spellman reminds you to constantly think of your band as a business. As a musician, that mentality is something that is hard to keep up.

However, this book, just like most other music business and promotion books that I've read, falls into the same trap: despite a recent update, so much content is waaay out of date. The whole process of booking, promotion, and all that has changed, and it feels like the "updates"
