Great little book which reminds us that salvation is God's work from start to finish. Written in a winsome and personal style for seekers. Direct and challenging in it's day, I'm sure. But illustrations etc seem a bit dated now.
Nevertheless, it is also invaluable to the Christian , touching on the topics of repentance, faith, justification, and their relationship with grace...
Helpful for preachers who wrestle with the tension of salvation being God's initiative, but at the same time...more

I CANNOT COMMEND THIS BOOK ENOUGH!!! I would plead with everyone who happens to stumble across this review to read and re-read this classic book. I have now gone through All of Grace three times and plan on reading it many times more. Please, read this book to learn about the glorious gospel of grace! Learn about justification by faith alone and come to see that Jesus is the author and perfecter of our faith! Seriously consider reading this book, then buying multiple copies of it and handing...more

I gave this book a four because Spureon's 19th century British English is somewhat difficult to read. I selected it to read because I want to know more about grace. I feel that there has not ben enough teaching on grace. The content of the book was wonderful but it to perserverance to finish rading it. Spurgeon talked alot about faith, by grace though faith, I can do nothing, and the Increase of faith.

Very good--the illustrations and plain language Spurgeon uses (as well as the order he addresses his arguments) to explain the Christian faith are fantastic. The truths are timeless, while the writing, style, and overall feel of the book definitely feel out-dated.

Quick read, although I chose to take my time. I recommend it to all who are looking for a quick, clear gospel presentation on the Cross and grace. (The complete text of the book is available online at http://www.spurgeon.org/all_of_g.htm...more

This book is outstanding except for two or three chapters near the end about repentance, where Spurgeon falls upon his Puritan tradition rather than the Bible. Other than that, though, I think the book is great for Christian and non-Christian alike, and I would have given it five stars otherwise.

Written in the 1800s, this book can be hard to read, especially for those who are unfamiliar with Christian terms and the Bible. But it is certainly a worthwhile read, especially his chapters on the principle of grace in confirmation and perseverence. In fact, I found some wonderful pearls of insight in those two chapters that I know I will reread often.

Excellent book on the Grace of God.a must read for all who want to know and understand God's Grace. This is Christianity in its simplest form. Learn true facts of Faith, what it requires and what it is.

The Grace of God is everything. Taste and see!!! I've read this before, but it seems to have aged as a rare wine. The chapters catapult one to immediate confession, repentance, thanksgiving and adoration!

Recommends it for: Everyone
Very good read. I would highly suggest it to anyone. Bring things into focus and explains faith, grace, repentance, and various aspects of each in a manner to be understood with ease.

This is not a book for the perfect. It is not a book for the easily offended, it is not a book for the atheist and it is certainly not a book for those without need of help. It is, however, a book for those who find themselves in need: In need of a Saviour, in need of happiness or in need of a better perspective. If you find your heart in a need of a kick start, or if you don't, read this book. It has passion and zeal by the bucketload, but perhaps most importantly; within its cover is a good ol...more

"An earnest word to those seeking salvation". I read this at just the right time -- I was a young but growing Christian grappling both with guilt over sin in my life that had not disappeared and with the temptation to put too much stock in my own increasing efforts in ministry. Spurgeon was a breath of fresh air as he reminded me that the gospel is "all of grace".

Spurgeon is an author who I was not fond of a few years ago. His word pictures seemed tangentile, and he often seemed to be going down multiple trains of thought at once. I kept running into his work, and now he is very dear to me. This book is super encouraging. It is him bluntly sharing a rich theology of grace. This is the Gospel being presented. A great book to give to non-Christians, and a great reminder for those who do believe. I recommend it.

This is a great book to read and great reminder that He (Christ) will preserve us until the end. I am so thankful for Christ.
Brian
A fine explanation of the doctrines of grace by Spurgeon. One I will probably return to for its clarity of thought.

Beautiful. As good an overview of Grace as I've ever read. Spurgeon rocks.

Dave
Excellent.

IF you're struggling with guilt because you think God is waiting for you to do something and you won't be in the will of god until you do whatever it is... this is a very comforting book.
Liz
Really excellent and clear explanation of the Christian faith, with excellent examples and images, and really clear writing.
Gerald

Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-92) was England's best-known preacher for most of the second half of the nineteenth century. In 1854, just four years after his conversion, Spurgeon, then only 20, became pastor of London's famed New Park Street Church (formerly pastored by the famous Baptist theologian John Gill). The congregation quickly outgrew their building, moved to Exeter Hall, then to Surrey M...more

“If a man were to sow a field, he could not excuse his neglect by saying that it would be useless to sow unless God caused the seed to grow. He would not be justified in neglecting tillage because the secret energy of God alone can create a harvest. No one is hindered in the ordinary pursuits of life by the fact that unless the Lord build the house they labor in vain that build it.” 1 person liked it
