I choose to read this book because I love the show Gossip Girl. The book is about a person who knows everyone secrets and displays them on gossipgirl.net and the seniors at Constance Billard School for girls want to know if they’re getting into college. My favorite character would have to be Blair Waldorf. Blair Waldorf is really outgoing and she does whatever it takes to get what she wants. What she has wanted to get is Yale. She’s my favorite character because that’s how I am. The emotions tha...more

I'll admit it: I really like Gossip Girl as a show. And I was going to Europe for a couple weeks, so my mom bought me this as something to read on the plane. I had no plans to read it, but I packed it anyway, in case I ran out of books. It's sort of hard to find English books in central Europe. I did end up reading it on a day I was feeling sick, and I didn't hate it; I read it in a couple hours, without stop, but man, I really didn't like it. It requires you to suspend your disbelief, which is...more

The childish storytelling is starting to wear on my nerves. All the girls are always giggling (and driving me batty). Most of the action has no consequence, and half the time I can't tell whether the narrator is being genuine or sarcastic. I've found it's best to read quickly and not think about the writing as much.

Not as good as first three but still pretty good

Is Nate and Blair over for good? Are they more than friends, or just friends? When Nate went out with Blair they went out for a while. Than Jenny a freshmen is going out with Nate(senior). At this time Blair is very jealous, and mad at Nate and Jenny because they have a realtionship. Nate is a handsome senior that is every girls dream. He does not need to find the girls they find him. The internal conflict in "Because I'm Worth It" reflects off of Blair Waldof. The internal conflict that she is...more

This book was about a girl who thought that she was better than everybody until someone came that was much better. so,she decided to do everything she could to keep everyones attention on her. what i learned from this book was to never stoop down to others level when they start to become jealous of you.

- Blair agrees to help be a peer group leader for a group of freshman in order to make her application stronger for Yale. She ends up with Jenny in her group, who technically stole Nate from her, but there are no hard feelings because Nate just dumped Jenny on NYE's and Blair feels like that's punishment enough. Peer group isn't super successful, because Serena's also a leader and instead of talking about things like body image or issues with school that the freshies are worried about, Serena sp...more

My Original Post

Warning: SPOILERS!

Hello Dear Readers! And Happy Lazy Sunday!

I'm at Scruff's this weekend but I thought I would break up the monotony of my weekend with one of the book reviews I promised you in this post. As most of you know, I was a huge fan of the Gossip Girl television series and I had been wanting to read the books. Well, I finally got a hold of them and started reading them at the end of January. I finished up book 11 recently and am finally ready to write out the review.

A...more

Reading these while reading the Pretty Little Liars books only highlight how much better Gossip Girl is. The only mystery around here that's ongoing book by book is who Gossip Girl really is, but that's not a make or break mystery. We could care less as long as (s)he's dishing the gossip.

For some reason the brand name dropping doesn't get on my nerves as much as it does in PLL. I think because it's more subtle or appropriate? In PLL every time someone picks up the same Coach bag Shepard writes '...more

I love and I hate Gossip Girl. Each time I pick up a book I start reading it and think "meh." Meh- because it's so hard to believe in the lives of these rich girls and boys. I could sooner believe in aliens then what these people get away with. But then I keep reading and at the end of each book I think - "well, I guess I should buy the next one."

This book covers Serena becoming a famous model, Nate going to rehab, Blair having a little bit of morals (totally surprised with this one), Jenny exp...more

From Goodreads:

Everyone who's anyone in New York City is suffering from post-college-application cabin fever and it's time to run a little wild! Could it be that Serena is smitten with Blair's stepbrother or will the Fashion Week parties pull her away from any attempt at true love? Dan and Vanessa are mad about each other and pursuing their creative dreams -- but be careful of what you wish for. Nate hits an all-time low as Blair's Yale interview with a tall, handsome alum takes an unexpected tu

February is a time of love and heartbreak. Valentine’s Day is an important day for any girl and Manhattan’s elite high school students are no different. The rich kids like to drown their sorrows in a stiff drink and a great party…or they just go to Fashion Week in Bryant Park and attend the best afterparties with famous people galore. Love, sex, and new relationships abound in the 4th installment of the Gossip Girl series and you can be sure that the rumor mill is overflowing during this season...more

The book that I am reviewing is Because I’m worth it Gossip Girl Novel by Cecily von Ziegesar. The genre is fiction the theme is about a group of Upper East Side teens in New York going through peer pressure, drama, love, confusion, normal teenage life. The Book is based on a TV show called Gossip Girl the novel.

Well, all the same characters are in there second year at Constance Billard school for girls. Blair and Serena start off by opening a girls group to get extra credit for collage. Jenn...more

This book takes a new, juicy spin on everyone's personal life. The only bummer was that nothing really memorable happened in this book, as there were no earth-shattering moments (okay, so I'm exaggerating) like from what I remember from the previous three books. (view spoiler) But I really did enjoy all the new aspects on everyone's lives, and can't wait to move on to the next book!

I'm also beginning to wonder who Gossip Girl really...more

I basically read this book only because I love the set. I love NYC, and I wanted to get the new york feeling by reading this. In that way, it was great. They often mentioned streets, stores, parks... I liked that part. Also, I liked that it was set in February, at fashion week. Even though it wasn't such a huge part, I liked it. What they also mentioned on every single page was what they were wearing, and I honestly couldn't care less. Sure, I get that a part of it all is wearing designer clothe...more

I was both impressed and horrified by this book. The first page was an excerpt from a blog-type website, seemingly written by a high school girl. Noticeably absent were the abbreviations, bad grammar and lack of punctuation so often seen with technological teens. This impressed me. The following pages of sex, drugs, smoking and the like weren't so impressive. I understand why they're appealing, and the story itself had a Sex in the City-like vibe. But I must still have an old-fashioned sense of...more

Because I'm Worth It, by Cecily von Ziegesar, is overall a good read. The quirky and sarcastic style of writing, which remains consistent through each of the books in the series, adds humour to the drama in the teenagers' lives.

The plot, however, is somewhat lacking, in that I was not absolutely desperate to read the next chapter. In fact, in contrast to the first three Gossip Girl novels, some of the characters' storylines became somewhat tedious. I found myself looking forward to reading Blair...more

How I Came To Read This Book: After reading the first 3 I was semi-hooked on the GG series.

The Plot: Again, this is when the series allowed the plot lines some time to breathe – we’re on book 4 and already at Fashion Week. Everyone is going a little crazy after college application deadlines so they blow off steam at various parties and in various couplings. Blair’s still angling for Yale (to the chagrin of Nate), Serena’s make a splash on the fashion scene, and Dan and Vanessa are giving it the...more

Everyone who's anyone in New York City is suffering from post-college-application cabin fever and it's time to run a little wild. Everyone seems to be having pretty exciting things happen --- from becoming a NYC runway model, to having a film shown at a famous fashion show, to having a poem published in the New Yorker and getting a literary agent, to being accepted into Harvard or NYU.

Could it be that Serena is smitten with Blair's stepbrother Aaron or will the Fashion Week after parties pull h...more

This is the fourth book in the Gossip Girl series by Cecily von Ziegesar. It starts out where the third book left off, with the gang going more and more crazy. This series, although it is funny, is very unrealistic to a person who has never lived a privileged New York life, but it is still worth the read - hey, it is fiction! There are many new characters introduced in this edition of GG and they are all a little more off kilter then the originals. Nate meets a new girl, who is completely out of...more

“Because I’m worth it” is part of a series called the Gossip Girl Novels. This book follows the lives of several teens, mostly seniors, through the month of February in New York City. In this book, the seniors are waiting to see if they have been accepted early into their college of choice. Also, Valentine’s Day and Fashion Week are major events that all the characters are stressing/excited for.

In my opinion, reading this book was a waste of my time. I could not relate or find redeeming qualiti...more

I absolutely loved this book. I love all the Gossip Girl series and it's books. One thing I really liked about this book is how Cecily changes from character to character. In many books I get lost when they change of characters and I hate it when they put different font but Cecily put a different character in each chapter so I knew exactly what she was talking about. I also could never stop reading! I got very into it and I was eager to read more and more as each chapter flew by. It really creat...more

One of the quotes on the back cover refers to this series as "Sex and the City for the younger set," which is misleading. Because I'm Worth It was written with none of the wit or intelligence which made that tv show so popular. The characters all lead ridiculously glamourized lives, full of parties and four hundred dollar shoes, but they lack any pretense at substance. Some of the characters might have been more interesting if we'd seen them for more than a few pages. The perspective shifts ever...more

In the fourth installment of Gossip Girl things are about to drastically change. These rich, beautiful, wild life Upper EastSide New York kids are still up to their backstabbling, malicious ways but this time life is gonna throw them some curveballs.

Blair is still waiting to see if she'll be accepted by Yale but after the whole interview mess and accidental affair with an older man things don't look so great, but meanwhile her obsession with ex-boyfriend Nate continues, though she is finding new...more

I’m finding it a little hard to get my thoughts together for this review, because all of the Gossip Girl books have started to melt together for me, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it does make it a little hard to recall exactly what I’m supposed to be giving my thoughts on right now. Well, here goes nothing.

Because I’m Worth It once again introduces a lot of new things to the Gossip G...more

“It was so typical. Whenever Blair did anything nice for someone else, she usually regretted it.

Which kind of explained why she was such a bitch most of the time.”

“You know when you see a gorgeous boy on the street and you say to your friend, "Look at him!" and then your friend makes a face like, ugly? We all have such totally varied tastes that someone is going to look at you and think, yum-yum dee-lish, no matter what you think you look like. You just have to learn to see what they see. ” 174 likes
